A fun set of Claves to play along with many kinds of Latin and Jazz songs.
I have recently become interested in learning various percussion types of musical instruments such as drums, Congas and wooden claves, also called rhythm sticks. I purchased this wood pair of claves (Nino: wood claves, small) on 2DayDeliver for a bargain price and found them to be great sounding when bounced against each other in a Latin song type of beat.
For those who are not familiar with claves they are designed to make a clicking sound heard in a lot of Latin music along with the Congas. Along with my harmonica and drum practice I now also practice using this small set of claves, keeping the beat in Latin and jazz songs.
This 5 inch set of Claves are made for children but adults can also use them to play along to various Latin American music and jazz tunes.

9 month old son adored these and it's also helping him with teething. Out of all the money i spent on light up battery powered stuff he prefers this and his bongo drum, and of course the boxes they come in *rolls eyes at the hundred of dollars I've spent on Vtech and fisher price when he could care less about them after 2 days* I sanitized them first and this may have effected the sound but he's too young to care.

Absolutely Perfect for Baby Hands
My 8-month-old son loves musical instruments, especially percussion ones. I wanted rhythm sticks that a) made a nice sound, b) weren't too long for him, so he wouldn't poke an eye out, c) would fit nicely in his little hands, and d) wouldn't be splintery, because they would spend a lot of time in his mouth, because he's teething. These claves delivered on all counts. He immediately figured out what they were for, they fit his hands perfectly and were nice and smooth so I didn't mind him gnawing at them. I'm very pleased. Ordering another set right now!

VERY nice small set of claves
These are a terrific set of claves. They seem to be well made. They are small, easy for a child to hold. The sound difference as you play is wonderful going up and down the claves. I would most likely buy any percussion instrument that Nino makes. Great addition to my grandson's precessional music box, and he likes to play with them.

Great addition to a set of instruments
Good sound, easy for little hands to hold, tap together and learn about making beats. I waited until my child was past the throwing stage (we stuck with soft plush toys til then) because there's nothing like getting accidentally whacked with a wooden toy! By the time she was 2-1/2 she was ready and happily played along watching Taratabong an animated musical learning program. Now the program is gone and we are searching for alternatives to continue learning music.

Fun for kids!!
My toddler loves music & rhythm. Got these to add to his collection of insteuments and they are a fav. They get used for their intended purpose and a million other purposes as well - drumsticks, hammers, he loves to see what they will fit into. And most inportantly when you are 2, they make a great banging sound!! As regular claves they have a very pleasant hollow sound.

Small NINO Wood Claves
They are well made but the sound is dull, muted. They are held by 2 and 3 year old children so they are small enough but since the children hold them like sticks, and not in a proper clave position, the claves have a dull muted sound. I didn't realize that as I had the bigger ones before and it didn't make a difference how you held them, they still had a clear 'click' sound. The little 2 and 3 yr olds DO love them as they are small for their hands but from a purest point of view, they are not ideal.

but they could be worse for what these cost
Not quite the claves sound I really wanted, but they work okay. Not going to pretend these aren't toys. They are, but they could be worse for what these cost. Eventually I'll spring for real Claves, but these will do in a pinch.

Stirred not shaken
I thought these were shaker sticks and was confused when they came and there knacker sticks. But that is my fault for not reading deep enough into the instructions. But they get the job done and I'm sure if a kid had them they would annoy the crap out of their parents

Great Party Instruments
Wonderful and inexpensive instruments for parties. We use them, hand bells, sleigh bells, etc along with the karaoke machine.
