The perfect tool to steady your patio table umbrella...
If you are aware of what you are purchasing, you will be very very happy with this product. YOU WILL NEED A PATIO TABLE WITH A HOLE IN THE CENTER to use this item. It is made to hold a patio umbrella in place for your table, not to be used just to hold an umbrella.
With that being said, this stand was just what I needed. I have filled mine with both sand and water and both held up the umbrella without issue. We have had several heavy storms with strong winds and the umbrella was not affected at all (it was closed of course). The plug to fill the unit is a bit tough to remove but after you do get it removed it is very easy to fill. There isn't a drain plug so you will use the same hole to empty it.
"Assembly" if you can even call it that is a breeze. The stand portion of the base is affixed underneath and is easily removed and put into place. This also makes winter time storage very easy. The umbrellas stand fits perfectly around my umbrella and can be adjusted to fit different diameter umbrellas by simply turning it clockwise.
A very affordable option for those needing to support their umbrella. I have used it on both concrete and lawn surfaces and the result is the same. The plastic is easy to clean after rain as well. Very user friendly!

I've read both positive and negative reviews before buying this Umbrella Base.
This is addressed to anyone who wrote a negative review that this base does not work as a standalone!
People!!! You have to read the product description kindly provided by 2DayDeliver - i.e. FOR USE WITH TABLES ONLY - NOT AS STANDALONE !!!
I am quite surprised that people are complaining that their umbrellas are tripping over. What did you expect ?!

Steady Base in Windy Conditions
We use this base in conjunction with a bar height table and standard crank umbrella. The umbrella expanse is perfect, this base raises it up just enough to easily crank open or closed the umbrella. The base is filled with water, just for ease of use. We live across the street from open ocean on a canal, and use this on the second level of our deck, so it receives a fair amount of strong wind. The umbrella and table have only fallen one time in the three months we have used it, and that was overnight when we mistakenly left the umbrella open.

GOOD VALUE, NO RUST, LOW PRICE, DURABLE
I have had one of these for 20 years. My old one is white and surprisingly in TX it has stayed intact. I just bought one for Florida and it seems this product is a little thinner than the old but could be the old one is stiffer from age and the plastic seems harder. That said, it is a good value.
WHETHER STATED OR NOT...THIS IS NOT A SELF SUPPORTING STAND AND IS INTENDED TO BE USED WITH A TABLE CENTER HOLE AS ADDITIONAL SUPPORT. ALSO, YOU NEED TO INSURE THE CENTER TUBE IS ROTATED TO THE LOCK POSITION AND THEN TIGHTEN THE CENTER CLAMP BY ROTATING THE RING CLOCKWISE UNTIL IT HAS A FIRM GRIP ON THE UMBRELLA SHAFT OR WIND CAN PULL IT UP AND OUT POSSIBLY BREAKING YOUR TABLE TOP. IF YOU SHAFT SLIPS THEN WIND SOME DUCT TAPE AROUND IT JUST BELOW THE CLAMP FINGERS AND IT WILL NOT PULL OUT WITHOUT THE CLAMP BEING REMOVED BY UNSCREWING THE RING.
PRO: Price, low storage weight if you use water fill and empty, adapts to a number of different diameter umbrella shafts, heavy and sturdy. IT WILL NOT RUST LEAVING STAINS ON YOU DECK LIKE MY EXPENSIVE CAST IRON POWDER PAINTED ONE DID.
CON: Clamp can slip, must use sand if you leave it out in freezing weather, fill plug is a bugger to remove and you get doused putting it back in after filling with water.

This umbrella stand is just like advertised. The pole holder was kept underneath
This umbrella stand is just like advertised. The pole holder was kept underneath, saving space during shipping. It holds a lot of water, maybe 3 gallons, so it is quite heavy. It was very hard to pry open the hold for the water, but at least it won't pop out easily. As explained in the description, this is not meant to hold an umbrella without the table also helping hold the umbrella. The negative reviews elsewhere seem to indicate that people tried to hold an umbrella on its own. I chose this stand for the price and because when the water is out, it is light weight, so it will be easy to store.

but I have thoroughly examined it and it will work very nicely for that purpose
I purchased this umbrella base not to use for an umbrella, but to use in the bed of my truck to hold a flag on a flag pole. I received it a few days ago and I have not had the chance to assemble with my flag pole, but I have thoroughly examined it and it will work very nicely for that purpose. It is well made out of high quality plastic. It has a port through which you can fill it with sand or water. I will likely fill it with sand. The base is wide enough that it shouldn't blow over even while traveling at speed in my truck. This was a very low cost solution to my needs. I know it would be a very good base to use for an umbrella on a patio as once it is filled with water or sand it will not blow over in the wind. If you are using it to hold an umbrella or for use as I am going to use it, I would recommend this umbrella stand.

good product for the price
good product for the price, but not what I would consider a high quality product. The plastics collar that is supposed to clamp onto the umbrella is fairly cheap and not super effective, but it does hold the umbrella in place from a tilting point of view. We did have an issue with it parachuting from the table when up on a windy day, but otherwise its fine. If you need something that will hold the umbrella inplace when windy I would pay the extra money and get a metal one with a set screw.

Very sturdy even though it's low priced. I filled it with water and my 9 foot umbrella has stayed put in the patio table where 3 other bases have failed. Las Vegas has crazy wind and with all the other bases I've used, I had to run out and pull the umbrella to avoid it being sucked out of the base and shot in a neighbor's yard like a harpoon (that really happened before). My umbrella has stayed perfectly in place and when I do need to move the base, it's not heavy or difficult.
Not crazy about the color, but hey when it's a good product, you can't have it all.

Looks Nice but Doesn't Work with My Umbrella :(
I wanted to use this with my new beach/picnic-style umbrella with a very small diameter pole. Unfortunately, this umbrella base is too large for the pole on my umbrella. I tried to figure out a way to make it work, but nothing I tried seemed to work. I'd like to use it because when you fill it with water (which I did) it's a pretty heavy weight and would be very good for stability.
I will keep it because I may end up getting a more normal umbrella to use with the manufacturer's table, and this base would probably work fine with a normal-size umbrella pole.

Didn't work out for me
This is cheap plastic, and as the other reviews state, it can't be used as a stand alone. It's for tables. It's not sturdy enough to hold it up alone. Arrived damaged - filled it with water & was leaking. Thought I'd still try to use it (maybe try sand and patch it?) But then discovered my umbrella pole that is 1-1/2" in diameter won't even fit. The description says it would. Overall, pretty unhappy with this purchase. I ended up throwing it away.
