the CMT makes a nice sharp cut
this is a quality bit but it is NOT a v-groove bit. it produces a flat bottom. I've attached a photo of the Freud bit next to a 60 degree CMT v-groove bit. the CMT makes a nice sharp cut.

It must be for pine.
Freud really s*** the bed on this one. I was skeptical at best how this pointed bit would work on oak and walnut, the predominant materials in my shop. The point broke-off after the first few feet of walnut. 2DayDeliver sent a replacement which didn't make it six inches in oak, before the tip broke-off. It might work on pine, but if you're fabricating hardwoods, don't waste your time on this one.

What happened to Quality Control?
Seems as if the finish grinding of the bit was in error. Somehow it made it past inspection and was shipped out for sale which for Freud is not consistent with their normal quality. The tip looked OK with a quick visual inspection but did not cut a perfect "Vee" shape. Instead in cut a "Vee" shape with a "U" shape at the bottom of the groove. A magnification device showed the point of the carbide cutter was actually two small points next door to each other with no material in-between to establish the needed point between the two cutting edges to cut the proper looking "VEE" groove shape I was in need of.
With time not on my side, I bought another cutter from a local supplier and completed the job just in time.

One of the blades on mine has a chip on it. I don't see how this bit is very safe on a router. It vibrates like crazy! I've used it with a circle jig to cut a 45 degree bevel on a round piece of pine and that worked worked out well. So I guess it's alright for softer woods. I've had some success chucking it into the tail stock of my lathe and pressing it into hollow forms where I want a point on the inside. It feels safer using it on the lathe, but if I up the RPM it will vibrate so bad the entire lathe starts moving across the floor.

Works great and has maintained it's edge well so far. I have mostly been using it in my CNC.

A good match of quality/price
A good match of quality/price. I only wish the frued bits came more manageable containers. They are quite large and hard to fit in a toolbox drawer for storage.

Bought this to give a cope and stick door the look and detail of a mitre door. Had to build a jig to keep the bit exactly where i needed it on the door. Bit is small and sharp worked and allowed me to give the look that was desired on a prebuilt door.

This bit does what it's supposed to do but it took two passes to get a clean groove in the pine I was working with.

Does the job!
Very nice bit. I used it during the construction of shadow boxes with lots of partitions and shelves. It did the job.

Sharp and precise
Sharp and precise, not much more to say. A bit price, but Freud is often worth the extra few dollars.
