Not as fun as the previous titles in this series
My husband loves Combat Flight Simulator 2 (Pacific theater) and really likes 1 (also European theater), so he was dying to try a Battle for Europe sim from Microsoft that would have graphics more on poor with the CFS2. Unfortunately, this simulator seems more like a step sideways, or even backwards, in terms of graphics quality and neither my husband or I enjoyed the missions. It also took us going through all three of our newer computers (all powerful, and one made in late 2012 that is extremely powerful) to find one this would load on despite the older simulators working fine on all of them. Even then, playing could be glitchy. I wish they would have done more with this, as I really loved the European missions on CFS1 myself and would have liked a new variation them.

It's a rehash of combat flight 1 with more airplanes.
The graphics are worse then CFS 2 (Combat flight simulator 2)and about the same as CFS 1. In other words, not great. I think the game developers did not put a lot of effort into this game. They added some cool airplanes like the ME 262 and the JU 88 and some bombing missions (or more bombing missions) but the games' barely playable. IF you don't have the first two MS combat flight simulators, get those first not this one! If you still have XP they will probably run. CFS 1 runs on windows 7 CFS 2 d0esn't 9haven't tried this one on 7 yet). So if Win 7 is the only OS you have (i have two hard drives, one loaded with win 7 and the other XP) buy at your own risk, these are all old games and may not work at all on win 7 or Vista.
I like the first two CFS games so much, I bought a used logitech wingman force feedback joystick (i had one before so i knew it would probably work on XP, and it does) from amazon for $30 and these games are MUCH more fun with the force feedback. Through the stick, you feel the guns hammer, you feel the pull on turns. When you land on the carrier deck (CFS 2 only) you feel the wheels hit and the cable pulling you back. It's fun. I recommend it and logitech still supports XP and you can download the drivers from their site. On win 7, this old joystick works but has no force feedback. If you have a force feedback joystick these games support that.

Very Dated. Sluggish response. Awful terrain rendering
Yes, it's an old game, but I have old games that still look beautiful.
This one actually runs on everything from windows 95- windows 7. On a high end Win7 64 bit with juiced up graphics the terrain still looks awful. It's flat and it's very difficult to determine high by the view alone.
The planes respond sluggishly.
Enemy planes appear fast and turn on a dime while your plane is clumping along about to snap apart at a very slow speed.
Enemy planes zoom past and are in the distance in seconds even when you are flying at top speed.
Even Mission Maps are riddled with gigantic pixels.
This could have been fun, even in it's grainy state, but the sluggish nature of the planes sucked all of the fun out of this 2 Disc set.

I love the game and played for years
Other commenters said this runs under Windows 7. I never got it to, even using compatibility settings in Win 7.
Shame. I love the game and played for years. I bought this to have some simple flyer fun. Too Bad For Me. Can't return it, of course.

More Bark Than Bite...
As a long-time "veteran" of Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulators, I was really hopeful that this version would top Sim 1 and Sim 2. Sadly, I was disappointed. I really enjoy 1 and 2, but this game has too many "options" and doesn't work well with any of the operating systems (XP, Win 7 & 8) that I've tried it with. Of the three combat flight sims that Microsoft produced, the Pacific theater Sim 2 is the best...in my opinion. Feel free to give this one a spin if you want, but be prepared to be disappointed if you're used to the previous versions.

Waste of my money
Waste of my money, was advertised to work with my os and is just like all the other older games, worthless on windows 7/8/10. will not even load on 10.
I enjoyed these games when they first came out (w95/98) , unless you have older windows, forget playing these games!

The land graphics are great, but hardly see the enemy plane as they ...
Maybe its something I do r don't do or maybe its my computer/joystick. The land graphics are great, but hardly see the enemy plane as they are much faster and can't seem to see the small dot coming at me before the enemy shoots me down or I crash. Used to play a game called Stormavic and it was much easier..would love to see something like that again.. Anyway the rating is for me, possibly would be better for more astute players.
