I LIke It.
I bought this item because of the reviews. I was kind of skeptical at first, but after using the grill, I really like it. It is a great way to cook meat. It works well on burgers, steaks, and thinner chicken breasts.. The cleanup is a little bit of a bother, but worth it.

It's a true gotta-have.
Awesome! Very good indoor results. I have done NY strips, ribeyes, burgers, and fish. It's a true searing grill. Had the George things and they were easy to clean (dishwasher) but were short lived and not really capable as a searing grill. These grill grates are easy to clean. I saw a review that said put a wet towel in the grill after removing food. I use a triple sheet wet paper towel and just let it cool with the paper towel inside and then just wipe it down. Good to go. But, the grilling results have been amazing. I have a big green egg. It rocks! But when I have a craving and the weather is bad for the BGE, my go-to method is this grill. Great grilled cheese, too!

this is an awesome appliance. I can cook a frozen strip loin right from the freezer to a perfect medium rare in less than 10 minutes!
Really easy to wipe clean with a wet paper towel while still hot. Highly recommend for fast even cooking of pork chops, boneless chicken breasts and steaks. I use a electronic temperature probe which I insert into the meat between the grill plates and when it beeps its done perfect every time.

This works great. I am in between grills as we have moved but still like a good steak now and then. This was the solution. Its super easy to setup. Some people complain about cleaning but its very easy. Have wet paper towels ready for when your food is done. Wrap food in foil or cover to rest for at least 10 mins. Unplug and places wet paper towels on grill and close. Get more wet paper towels and go back to grill and slide wet towels around with tongs. I have a roll of cheap paper towels so I use as many as I need. Usually about 8 of the half towels and the thing come clean.
I have had it for almost 2 years now and still love it. We use it once every week or two. I have made steaks, burgers, chicken cabobs and veggies. All turn out great. The fact that it grills on both sides is a huge advantage. Just set in on and set your timer. I am seriously considering grabbing another one. It always seems that when I find something I like and it works, it gets discontinued.

This grill is a winner!
Fantastic grill! I have had George Foreman style grills before, but the hinge at the back of the grill plates squishes the food and it cooks inconsistently. This grill is more of a panini press, with the hinge in the middle of the top plate, so the food is evenly pressed and cooked. The sear feature is perfect for meats. I can get those yummy caramelized grill marks without having to heat up the outside gas or charcoal grill. Super easy to clean - after the grill is turned off, but still hot, put a couple of wet paper towels in between the grill plates and let them steam. Any cooking residue will literally wipe off. The plastic drip "pan" is easy to clean as well. Lots of hot soapy water. The legs seem to slide around on my countertop, so I'm careful where I place the grill so it won't slip off. And all the metal does get hot, so beware. Other than that, this grill is a winner!

This is a very good (excellent) grill - it produces a well cooked-seared steak or hamburger with minimum fuss. I also have a GF grill but it does not have any temp or time display but performs as well as it can with watching. I also own a Tfal-Optigrill this is the Cadillac (and most expensive) of grills. However I found it was overkill for me (Hamburgers and Steak man). The HB steak lovers grill is the ideal machine for me and does an excellent job of searing and cooking a steak or hamburger. Its drawbacks are it doesn't have removable plates for cleaning but it is relatively easy to clean. It also has the grease catcher in a strange position. It would have been improved with a timer that started after the sear.

Please Bring Back The Prior Grills...
I am disappointed in this product. My top burner plate doesn't work so I am stuck with cooking all my food on the bottom plate. I liked my previous unit by Hamilton Beach it had deeper holes to let the fat flow and was easier to clean. The timer is horrible it sounds like a fire smoke alarm going off every time. This unit tells you the temp. that you are cooking at but doesn't have a count down timer that you can set and leave it and when it reaches that time a bell will sound not this unit I have to stay and watch the meat cook on one burner that works and one that doesn't. You really need to bring back the old units they were better made and dependable with a true clock. The container off to the left of the unit where all the fat drains in is poorly designed if you move the unit a little when adjusting your meet the plastic piece moves and fat gets all over the place. The old units had a built in plastic to the right that was out of the way when cooking and worked much better. Unless Hamilton Beach goes back to the units that were really good I won't be a customer again. I only gave it a 2 because it looks nice the functions are horrible very disappointed.

awesome little grill
awesome little grill. my kids love to grill paninis on it. We can also make quick dinners by grilling chicken and veggies. I don't like cleaning it afterwards because of the little grooves but that's not the grills fault.

Great little grill!
This is a great indoor grill. I had an older version of this grill that I used almost daily for over a year. When the non-stick started wearing I decided to try a Cuisinart version with removable plates, what a mistake! After a few months, the Cuisinart went into the trash and I bought this one. The searing feature is great for getting those "grill lines" especially on steaks and chicken. Cooks evenly and heats up pretty quickly. Clean up is not bad, I soak a few paper towels in water till they're dripping, close the grill on them to steam off any food residue. It's also pretty sturdy. Just remember to put the grease tray in place or you'll end up with a messy counter.
This is a hundred times better than the Cuisinart which never heated properly and had trays that never came clean. I would repurchase and recommend this grill.
