Replaced fan in manufactured home bathroom, Old fan motor ...
Replaced fan in manufactured home bathroom, Old fan motor has been discontinued. I was able to remove and replace with this one, with no attic access. My pipe was 7" Vertical, I had to cut hole in ceiling 1" larger. Just stuck new fan in 7" hole and traced around the 8" flange with a sharpie. Cut hole with a Rotozip. I did not use Hanger bars, Sheet rock was backed with 1/2 plywood. I used 4 sheet metal screws thru flange on bottom edge to secure fan to ceiling. The only reason for 4 stars was because I had to do some sheet metal repair to the flappers to make them work properly. No more fogged up mirrors. will be ordering 2 more for the other bathrooms.

This is not really the best location or application but that is how our kitchen ...
I am using this fan over our kitchen range. This is not really the best location or application but that is how our kitchen is set up. I added a grease screen and am just going with it. I replaced a 40 year old nutone 8 in and this one went in right in the same cutout without any drywall change. The old had died due to grease and would start up very slowly if it all. I used the old metal grill instead of the new plastic one but the plastic one seemed adequate as well. At 210CFM rating this fan is somewhat loud. I would almost recommend a variable speed switch be installed also if intended use is near occupancy sensitive to sound. Note: reducing speed also reduces exhaust performance. Ducted mine to the roof penetration with 7 inch rigid duct. Ensure you insulate the duct unless your attic space is heated to avoid condensation build up in cold climates. If your penetration can go horizontally to the soffit install that way and pitch outward slightly to allow condensate to drain outside instead of inside.

38 years and the parts are still interchangeable.
I had a Nutone vent fan in the restroom at church that had been installed when the church was built in 1978. When it quit working, I was sure I would have to replace the entire unit but I found this fan that had the exact same model number. I was able to switch out just the motor and fan unit and did not have to change any of the lines or housing. I am very happy with this fan and hope 2DayDeliver still carries them in 38 years when the fan wears out again. I will note that I found this fan at an on line outlet and was about to order it when I decided to check 2DayDeliver. I not only found it but it was Prime and about $20 less than the online outlet had it for. Thanks 2DayDeliver.

Perfect Replacement motor for OLD (25+ year) NuTone 8210
Read other reviews about this product that indicated that they had a very old NuTone 8210 where the motor had died or was on its way out. Similar to other buyers, I could not find a replacement motor and fan but came across this product. I was hoping to just use the motor, blade and motor bracket on this unit to replace my old unit. Based on other feedback I took a chance on this unit since it was not too expensive. Turns out it met the needs exactly as I hoped.
The cover that faces down on my original 25+ year old unit was silver/crhome. This one comes with an "off white" color that if you have soft white lights in your kitchen, which I do, will be fine. If you want to keep your old cover, it will also work
In conclusion, if you have an old 8210 and simply want to replace the motor/fan.assembly. This is your product. Time to replace the motor/assembly bracket was about 5 minutes.. You can simply keep or throw away the outside metal housing that came with the new unit.
For a person that has lived with the loud sound that comes with the 8210, this new unit is a little less but not much less.
The reason being is that it moves a lot of air. We don't use this fan often but when we do, we want to move as much air out as fas as possible. This actually does that.

Standard product. Fast shipping. Mediocre installation.
Standard quality product designed in the USA but manufactured overseas. I purchased 3 of them for bathroom installations in a couple of homes and here are my problems:
1) Packaging in adequate. All 3 of them were bent or warped to varying degrees which I was able to fix. However, nobody wants to purchase a NEW product which has been bent.
2) The electrical box (shown on the left side in the photo) goes into the unit from the inside. All 3 of them never aligned with the pre-drilled holes correctly. I had to redrill them.
3) Installation is NOT hard but the drawings/instructions could be better for 1st time do-it-yourselfer's.
4) LOUD! Yes, they move a LOT of air but they ARE LOUD. No doubt about it. Everybody knows when someone is in the bathroom.. but it keeps the mirror from steaming up during a hot shower. I suppose there's always a trade off.

Very pleased with this product
Very pleased with this product. Replaced an older 1950's era Kitchen range fan that was very noisy. Improved fan blade design makes this new and improved model a bit quieter than the older metal bladed version. I measured 2-3dB quieter performance. The electric motor is also a different design (shaded pole), which I believe can be regulated with a solid-state speed regulator. (Older motor design of the 1950's era fan did not work with a speed regulator). I had to adapt 7" ductwork from old fan's backdraft damper to fit on replacement fan to make it fit, as newer design is more compact.
Two complaints: Bezel is white plastic (can re-use old aluminum bezel from old fan, though). Although noise levels are improved, it's still a bit louder than would be ideal. Backdraft damper does rattle a small bit (will try some lubricant to quiet).

Nutone 8210: Tried and true performance
I bought this fan to replace the original Nutone 8210 that was installed when my house was built in 1960. I must say, I was quite surprised that this model is still being manufactured. I'm no Bob Vila, so it only made sense to make this as painless as possible. That is why i replaced it with the same model so that minimal modifications needed to be made.
I can't really comment too much on installation, since it was for the most part a "plug-n-play" installation. Unlike other users, I couldn't just swap the motor and fan out since mine was the very original design with a different motor mount and bracket design. The installation instructions were fairly straight forward. The only difficulty I ran into was the mounting brackets for the housing. I couldn't use the one supplied due to the placement of the original fan. I managed to very carefully nail the original brackets to the ceiling after outlining the housing placement. After that blip, it was a fairly easy process to install. Only a few F-bombs were dropped due in part to dropping tools or screws. Total time: 45 minutes.
Once installed, the fan does have an elevated noise level. It's not loud and obtrusive in my opinion, but it's not the quietest either. The fan moves a lot of air in a short amount of time. Since I use it in the bathroom, I'm more concerned about airflow as opposed to noise. I'm very pleased with the performance.
My only reservation is it's long term reliability. I consider myself lucky the original lasted 58 years before finally giving up the ghost. I don't expect the new model to. Comparing the old one from 1960 to the new model, it's evident "they don't make them like they used too."
I installed the original metal grille as opposed to the new plastic one. It adds a nostalgic touch and looks better than the white plastic one supplied with the new fan. :)

easy to install
Had a old one that started to go out after 8 years. Wanted to get another because fits in the spot so well. Ordered this one after looking at part numbers on old one. Fit perfectly, easy to install. Started right up no problems. About the same loudness or even quieter than old.

Great fan for an old house with concrete roof
Founding this Round Duct Ceiling Fan saved a lot of $$$$ because my 30+ yrs concrete home have one bathroom without windows and uses one of this fans to force air circulation inside. The old one was also a round NuTone brand fan so this one was the perfect match to replace the old & rusted existing fan. It was exactly the same size as the old one and with some preparation I was able to insert it in the 8inch round hole in the concrete roof,

This product was a true disappointment considering the make
This product was a true disappointment considering the make. The overall quality was mediocre. There is not a single edge on this product that is not dangerously sharp. The output draft doors are so flimsy, that the arrive in the box bent and will not close after the blower is turned off. It doesn't come it a filter/screen. You have to buy it separately or look at the inner workings of the fan. The directions are almost nonexistent.
