having a comfortable pen to write with is important to me
As a high school English teacher, I splash a lot of ink on student essays! So, having a comfortable pen to write with is important to me. If there was a size chart for hands, I’m sure that mine would land in the XL category. Writing with light, skinny pens for any length of time is cramping for my hands. I love this pen because it has a larger circumference and is a little heavier than the average pen. If you are an industrial strength user of pens on daily basis, and if you like a little wider, well balanced, and heftier pen, do yourself a favor and try it. Just be careful about loaning it out! This pen has a tendency to sprout wings and fly away!

Writes wonderfully but even more intrigued by the design
I can't stop opening and closing this thing. It does so with such a satisfying 'plunk.' Takes two hands to open, one to close. The clip is on a pivot, which means it rocks open to clip to your shirt. Whoever engineered this thing should have won some kind of prize. I'm suspicious of the various mechanisms lasting a lifetime but it is guaranteed for life. It's smaller than you'd think and kinda chubby. It is not too heavy like many of the metal pens I've tried. The ink insert that comes with it lays down a satisfyingly smooth, wet line. The ink dries very fast and doesn't smudge. I'll revisit my review when I've had more time to see how long the cartridges last, whether the ink starts skipping, and whether the quality holds up to long-term use. I hope all is good because I've written with many pens, some a lot more expensive than this one, and this one is the best by far.

The Best Writing Pen Period! Hands Down!
To tell you how much I love these ink pens, I own eight of them. I am CTS sufferer and these pens work wonders for my journaling and everyday writing. I have one in each tote I travel with. One in my handbag, one in the car, one in the computer room, one in the kitchen, etc. Get the picture. :-) They write so smooth and effortless, and continue to allow me to hav e wonderful penmanship. I have tried many expensive pens over my 28 years in military and none compared to this particular one.

Nice "beefy" pen w/o being too heavy
Nice "beefy" pen w/o being too heavy. I had a thick roller ball Cross until recently when my puppy decided it made a good chew toy. I need a thick pen for arthritic hands and find this easy to hold. Although thick, it does not weigh down shirt my pocket where my pen always lives. I was leery of the gel as I'm left handed and usually find the gel smears as I write. However, this gel seems to dry very quickly and not smear or leave my finger covered with ink. The only drawback I find is the 0.07 medium tip which, for me, writes way to thick, especially with the gel. I prefer a 0.05 fine tip and will try to find black fine tip refills, preferably in regular roller ball ink.
on 2016-09-02 I'm really enjoying how nice it is to write with a Cross pen is
This is the coolest pen! I've had problems in the past with gel pens accidentally clicking themselves open and staining a shirt or pants. With this gel pen, you pull the top to open it and push it down to close it. AND, the clip is spring loaded, so you don't have to fight clipping it on your pocket. I'm really enjoying how nice it is to write with a Cross pen is, again. Cross Edge Capless Gel Ink Pen, Jet Black (AT0555-2)

Cross quality is flushed!
Cross quality has plummeted to the latrine. I have had cross pens for number of years and the quality has always been high. I have no idea when they tossed quality materials out the windows for cheap plastic, but this pen is horrible. I have an older cross pen similiary in shape and size and the pen is made of metal. It is heavier than this piece of plastic garbage. Despite the fact that the pen has a nice look, it is super light because it is super crappy.

Nice pen with a handy action
I like rollerball pens, but don't like the separate caps. I had a Lamy Swift for years that gave me the ease of use of a ballpoint. Alas, the action was never that smooth. Sometimes it wouldn't retract smoothly. After years of good use, the functioning got worse to the point of being a pain. So, I got this Cross pen as a replacement.
It is a tad more difficult to open because it does take both hands. However, it it quick and smooth to do so. It closes easily and with one hand. The action has a positive catch for both open and close. It writes very smooth too; very comparable to Lamy roller ink.
I'm very happy with this Cross Edge Capless. I do prefer it over the Lamy Swift. If you are looking for a handy rollerball pen without a cap, this one is highly recommended.

Bulky but not oversized
Great pen. I like the bulkiness and weight. Balanced nicely and so far have not felt "fatigued" using it. The quality looks better than what I've observed in local retail chains. I've always loved Cross pens and this is another that offers effortless writing.

Not your average pen
I ordered seven of these and had them engraved to give to my employees for Christmas. They are very happy with them and the quality of the pen. The gel writes smooth but doesn't smudge. It is a little shorter than a normal pen and fits well in a pocket.
