Sturdy enough wood! Quality product.
This easel arrived SO fast. If you are in the market for a wooden easel for your home studio, I would say this is a yes. I loveee mine. One of the best things is it is real wood and you can see that craftsmanship went into making them in Oregon.. it isn't just a cheap plywood or clinky metal. On top of that, the easel was in no-fuss packaging. Everything worked properly.
Note: I cant fit the top "bracket" on the easel when I put my drawing board on it, but, with the angle tilt, it works fine! I recommend this easel.

but like one other review said
It does the job, but like one other review said, the chain on the back to front is flimsy and not the best design at all. I think a piece of wood that could fold up easily would be much better, but I needed inexpensive and for this it serves the purpose for me. It holds my canvas well and a decent larger size as well. For inexpensive, it is basically serves a basic purpose and it does fold up easily to put out of the way as well.

and I need something lightweight that's easy to transport
So, I'm a knucklehead because I SAW that this easel is only 60" high, but I didn't "digest" that information. It's SHORT. I'm 5'5" and taller than the easel. I primarily want this thing so that I can go to a figure drawing class, and I need something lightweight that's easy to transport, this is... but now I'll need to also transport a chair/stool to sit on. I prefer draw standing up, but ... we'll see how it goes. I'll post more after I've used it. It's light, not really very adjustable, but I might be functional "enough." Stay tuned.

Great value, easy to use, sturdy, looks great!
I am taking painting lessons and have been using a small table-top/portable easel; I wanted a sturdy but easy-to-store standng easel for my larger projects. I have been looking over easels for months and found this one - I liked the style of the legs and the sliding supports. I previously has an inexpensive tripod easel with adjustable-height legs - it was wobbly and I had to create my own chain-support setup for it. After just a few uses, it broke completely. I don't think I'll have that problem with this one - it is much sturdier. It was shipped quickly (it was 2DayDeliver Prime eligible) and arrived in fine, undamaged condition. Inside the unmarred box was a single sheet of paper instrucing the user to attach the two sliding braces, and it was good to go - it took me about 1/2 a minute to put them on and set it up. Wood is good quality and the golden finish is quite nice. Definitely recommend this easel.

Light-Duty Wonderful Easel
Beautifully-crafted easel made of lovely wood, and it's working perfectly holding the reference materials/photos I need for my paintings. It's light-duty and just right for this purpose. It fits almost perfectly alongside the much-heavier-duty easel I use for painting. The fairly long legs, without a crosspiece too close to the bottom, allow it to be crossed over behind the main easel, and this feature keeps the ref/pix close enough for detailed and precise paintings. Before I was using one of those spindly photography-type tripods which worked OK, but which I much disliked for its ugliness every time I entered my art studio. Now I'm HAPPY! I believe any light-duty use for painting or displaying artwork will work out great.

I'm a woodworker
I am a woodworker and an artist and I went to make my own to the big box store and found that I was going to spend more for just raw wood. Here is one better than I could have made it, cheaper than the ingredients and I was literally painting in the time it took to open the box. I looked at every one I could and this one was the best for the money and great oak lumbar. I hope no one actually had a problem with the construction or the complexity. Great job, Yazhi. I'm painting big now. Since I wrote this review I went back to 2DayDeliver and ordered one more, I may even get a third.

Wonderful, Substantial Easel
This was a gift for my husband. He opened the box and assembled it before he saw it came with assembly instructions ... that's easy it was to put together. It is a nice, substantial easel with good weight and stability. I purchased the item as an 2DayDeliver Daily Deal, so it was quite reasonably priced. My husband loves using this well-made, good-quality easel.

Sturdy, versatile and light
This easel is just what I needed.
It requires no assembly out of the box. Simple A frame construction, not bulky and gets the job done. Wonderful wood frame with great construction. Plus, it claims to be made in USA, so that is always a win for me. Details of manufactur are correct; the slide holders can be adjusted to fit maximum 44 inches, though one can always just rest a canvas or whatever on the bottom one and not be restricted by top holder.

No lower support arm was in the box. I ...
No lower support arm was in the box. I called American Easel and left messages but they never returned my call. I ended up making my own Lower canvas support. Also the rear leg hinge bends out of shape. I'll need to replace that with something more robust.
