Got the ABS info I needed; but this should really be a $10 device
I bought a cheap CAN OBD II reader years ago (less than 20 bucks) and it has served me well over and over again. This time around however, I needed ABS info, something my old standby doesn't provide. Bought this Innova and crossed my fingers, hoping it would give me ABS info on my 2012 Chrysler Town & Country minivan. Plugged it in and viola!, left rear wheel ABS sensor is throwing a code. So it provided me the information I was hoping to get. Still, I think at ~50 bucks this thing is about $40 overpriced. Won't be long till the chinese start selling generic versions that can do the ABS & air bag info, on auction websites, for 5 bucks w/free shipping!

A very inexpensive way to communicate with your car's engine
As a relatively inexperienced weekend mechanic, I was concerned when the "Check Engine" light came on in my 2001 Toyota Avalon - I expected a few hundred dollars or more in repair bills, and the potential for an even bigger ripoff. Reading about the CAN bus and the OBDII protocol on-line led me to believe that this tool could help me save some money, or at least understand the extent of the problem before I took it in. I was right. For a remarkably low price (IMHO), I was able to purchase and plug in the device (the jack is below the steering wheel on most vehicles since 1996), and read the error code that generated the alarm. When I learned (by going to the instrument manufacturer's website) that the problem in my car was due to the evaporative emission system, and that the most common cause was a faulty gas cap, I erased the fault with the instrument, cleaned up and lubricated the gas cap, and the light has not come back on. Even if the problem had been more severe, it would have been very helpful to know ahead of time what I was looking at. Cars are increasingly computerized, this tool helps the owner understand what the computer is seeing.

Innova 3020 code reader.
I received this code reader sooner than expected. Upon receipt I used it right away on my Nissan Frontier and it displayed the code for the check engine soon light. Went to the web site and look up the code, which determined that it was a possible faulty, or loose gas cap. Sure enough checked the gas cap and found it not to be on tight enough. After tightening the gas cap properly, I used the Innova 2030 to erase the fault and turn off the check engine light. The Dealer service shop told me it would cost me $70 for them to hook up the machine and find the problem. I would still have to pay to have the problem repaired. The Innova 2030 cost me less then $50. The check engine light is out and I am happy. Very handy tool to have and very easy to use.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo 4.0 i6
Check engine light was on when I purchased my jeep. Bought this to have my own rather than having a shop charge me a ridiculous price to do it for me. Well worth the money! I was able to pinpoint my issue and get the issue resolved quickly and am also passing emissions. For the time I have owned this, I haven't had to touch the erase button at all. Great product

Tells you what's wrong before you have to rely on a mechanic to tell you.
This is excellent. I failed the smog test, and ran out and got this. It told me exactly why I would not pass, and so I made sure it wouldn't throw any codes before I went and re-took the test.
I didn't use it again for a very long time, and recently, my car showed a "service engine" light. I plugged the scanner in, and knew exactly what the code was.

Works...so I know the code

Didn't work for me....
Like most of the OBD scanners...they say "will read and erase ABS codes for MOST cars.."
Bought it to shut off ABS light on 1996 Blazer.
If ABS function doesn't work for my vanilla GM...then they should not make this claim

This was very easy to use and allowed me to monitor my readings after I reset the error code so I could make sure all but 1 lights were blinking for the emissions testing. I have a P0420 code that pops up every once in a while and I was able to make sure everything looked good when I brought my truck in for inspection.

Automotive Diagnostics for Dummies!
I remember when the shop charged me $50 to read the codes. This is the greatest thing since sliced bread! My son-in-law told me to get one. I look up the codes online, then I ask my son-in-law, the Ace mechanic in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, what it all means. Then I'll take it to the local shop if it can't wait until the next visit to VT.
