Great simple phone for seniors!! With a LOUD RINGER n the peace of mind of the s.o.s. Button!!!
After reading many of this phones reviews I decided to pull the trigger n get this phone. I Bought this phone for my 88 year old mother to use on cricket wireless. I went to cricket wireless site to activate phone. I entered the imei number on the site and it said the phone wasn't compatible with cricket wireless. But I had a feeling it was,so I drove to a cricket store n I was able to activate without any issues.
The ringer is very loud even on the lowest setting. I turned the ringer all the way up n it was so loud that it could be heard outside. The s.o.s. Button works n sends a text message once it is held for 2-3 seconds to emergency contacts stored in phone. It will also automatically call the first person(only) on the emergency contact list. It will call the other emergency contacts but you will need to subscribe to the monthly feature that is offered from snapfon. It took me a couple of hours fiddling with it and double checking the s.o.s. Button to get it dialed in.
The phone is a simple phone and perfect for seniors. The main reason I bought this phone was the emergency button. It gives me peace of mind that if she falls and no one is home that she can get help without manually dialing a phone number for help. It also has speed dial for 8 numbers. My mom short term memory is slowly degrading and I knew she won't remember how to use the speed dial feature so I made a list starting with #2 with my name next to it n then added #3 with my sisters name next to it n so on til #9 and the last name on the list. I taped the list to the back of the phone with clear tape so it won't smudge and the list is easy for her to read. I spend a little time with my mom explaining to her about the speed dial feature and she loves having to just push one number to get ahold of her kids.
The one negative about the phone is feels a little cheap( and that's the reason I gave it 4 stars). I did buy the red protective case. I also purchased the charger stand ( second generation) and the phone will charge in the cradle with the protective case on it.
All in all it cost about $115.00 for everything, but the cost is worth the peace of mind that I have knowing my mom will hear the phone when we call her n having the s.o.s. Button on the phone is the added feature that I was hoping it would work without the added subscription fee from snapfon with cricket wireless and it does work perfectly.
Hope my review helps answer some of the questions that other people might about this phone.
P.S.This phone will also work on att wireless network as well. Att bought cricket wireless about two years ago and they use the same towers.

The ph is for my elder mother who is not good with electronic devices, so this is the best choice of 3 or 4 available on 2DayDeliver.
Basic, large screen, large lettering and keypad.
The ph is very lightweight, easy to use. Mother did not want a flip ph, and the Pantech Flex we originally purchased that claimed to be good for elders definitely was not!
My only complaint was the red S O S button. It says to set it up using contacts, well we did, we got the urgent texts but 911 was not contacted.
There is a fairly easy booklet that comes with the ph, and I tried following the directions for setting up 911....that portion did not seem to operate properly...Idk, could be I could get clarity to understand it better
I could not figure how they would know where she would be to even send help? Oh and there are some videos on YouTube but not for setting up S O S
I still like and recommend this ph

Great phone for the visually impaired or someone needing a basic but reliable phone.
I purchased this phone for my father who has very poor vision. He is able to read the number pad and although he still has trouble seeing the display at times, he can hear which numbers he has pressed to make a call. That feature alone made the phone for him a worthy investment. We use ATT wireless and had no problems activating the phone with their service. Inputting numbers for speed dial was easy. The phone turns on very quickly, about 10 seconds or so and call quality is great. My father does not need the features that a smart phone offers so this fit the bill perfectly. I am grateful that there are companies that care about the visually impaired and make a device that is usable and economical for them. Thank you so much.

Perfect device for 86 year old Mom in LAW!!!!!!
I purchased this phone for a very finicky 86 year old Mother in Law. She is extremely technology limited and most definitely hates change. This device was the perfect answer to cutting her expenses versus the Jitterbug basic flip she had. They charged 75.00 a month plus 5.00 more for her device for years. Any time she went over 400 minutes it was expensive add on charges. Needless to say money wasted for years..... With this SNAPFON I was able to go to local AT&T store and get the right sim for it and add a line to our family plan. Now it's just 9.99 a month for the line. The device is most definitely the answer for a senior needing a cell phone. The SOS button is also perfect for them to press when confused, lost or in jeopardy. Spend the extra cost - get this device and it will work with any SIM card cell carrier.
The Audio voice and large keypad are also a bonus. The fact it works very similar to her jitterbug was a plus. AVOID the JITTERBUG device and go with SNAPFON if at all possible!!!!!!!!!!!!

SIMPLE IS BETTER
Just received the Snapfon yesterday. I am in my fifties and ordered it because I believe in the philosophy of "KISS", Keep It Stupidly Simple and, of course, easy to use. Please find below initial likes and dislikes.
1) Very large, well lighted, and real easy to push numbers great when driving, in dark, etc., or just being human.
2) Two of the multiple ring tones are real cool: Hawaii Five-O and opening title song to James Bond movies.
3) Has a speaker phone engaged by holding the "0" key or pushing the green "OK" key and then selecting speaker.
4) You can elect to have woman's voice announce the number keys each time you push one when dialing.
5) Built-in LED flash light with switch on side of phone.
6) Simple, amber back lighted screen which shows numbers and words with no pictures.
7) Center "MENU" button easy to push lets you maneuver menus with up and down push of button.
8) Three large key (green OK, yellow MENU, red PWR/NO) buttons for send call, access to menus, phone on/off, etc.
9) Ability to lock keys with a side mounted sliding lock/unlock switch.
10) Red SOS (Panic) button on back for calling up to four programmable, owner pre-set phone numbers.
11) It irritated my wife when I told her I was going to buy a "Senior Phone".
12) Loved the fact she had to eat her words when she actually liked it after it arrived. Told you so dear!
1) NO BLUETOOTH! Spoke to manufacturer about this before buying and expressed my concern. Some of us do drive.
2) Speaker is loud but not of the greatest quality at higher volumes.
3) Had to listen to my wife's mockery of me buying a "Senior Phone".

Exactly as Billed
1. At some point, people have to realize their 90+ loved ones may have dementia (even though they can walk and talk and tell stories all day) and can't work the phone or the TV or anything else that they once did. My mother couldn't even find the charger cord to keep the phone powered up, after "hiding the valuables" due to general paranoia that comes with dementia.
2. The _original_ Snapfon phone I bought for my mother was given to my mother-in-law as a backup for her Snapfon ONE but while she was in Palm Springs this year, both somehow suddenly became incompatible with the AT&T chip. The SIM worked in our iPhones but no longer on the Snapfon, so we purchased this newer version. She INSISTED on getting the same brand and was delighted with the TWO.
3. I am personally still not thrilled by the cheapish plastic, but the units have stood the test of time, so it's 5 stars this time.
I purchased this phone for my 87 year-old mother.
The phone comes factory unlocked for GSM chips. It worked off the bat. The keyboard lock, flashlight, volume and FM radio switches on the left and right sides of the phone are easy to use and worked well. Comes with wall charger.
The phone does exactly what it says and was easy to "program" in the information we wanted. In fact, it imported all the numbers that had been on the SIM chip.
I think my mother prefers this phone to all other phones she has used. Many older people have arthritis. They find opening up flip phones to be very difficult and can't do it in a timely manner. She was so happy with this phone.
My only complaint is that the housing appears to be cheap plastic, and not very thick at that. I know I can't expect much from a $60 device, but I am worried that if the phone is dropped, the case might shatter.

Absolutely the best phone for seniors!
Fantastic phone! A gift to my 90 year old mother who lives out of state and is hearing and vision impaired. She easily got the basics and was glad to see a manual. She placed the SIM card from her old phone and was good to go. Following my suggestion, she went online to examine all of the features (a walk-thru of about 32 clearly presented little segments). This is the best phone she has ever used. Voices come over loud and clear, ringtone is loud and the size of phone and numbers are perfect, plus all of the other features not found elsewhere.

Great phone - needs a 3G SIM for best functionality
This phone is really great for seniors that have vision and/or hearing issues. The one caveat is that it's a 3G phone and it may not function 100% with a 4G SIM card (even with a shim kit), so it's best to check with your provider and see if you can get a standard-size 3G SIM card before putting this phone in service.

Great Phone For Anyone
I call this my Y phone--why bother with all that other junk when all you want is a phone. The battery life is extraordinary. The keys are very big and easy to use. The ringtone is plenty loud. I chose the whistling theme from old The Andy Griffith Show. I can hear the other callers very well even in a noisy environment. The keypad lock helps prevent accidental dialing. The flashlight has come in handy. And the alarm sounding button is a nice safety precaution. I don't use the emergency messaging feature. If you're not using Snapfon's service but have another carrier, you might have a little trouble setting up voicemail. I did. Think of it as setting up your first speed dial--#1. Enter Voicemail under the name and for the number, if you don't know it, you might have to contact your carrier for it. Just entering 1 didn't work for me. Good luck!

Great solution for an elderly hard of hearing parent
Bought this for my elderly mother - 90 years - who struggles with her hearing and eyesight and was just not using her regular landline or cell. After some research I bought her the Snapfon. One key consideration is that it is set up to work with her provider T-mobile,and indeed it was a snap to get a chip put in at my local T-mobile store and instantly connected. The phone is supported by other carriers as well but do dome checking as prior reviewers have noted issues connecting the phone. Regarding usability, it seems to do the trick as functional for seniors. The buttons are large enough for mother to handle and speaks out as she inputs them. I turned the volume up to maximum on all features - keyboard, ring tone, voice - and its certainly more than loud enough for most people. My mother is deaf in one ear and has limited hearing in the other - but with her hearing aid on this works for her. The Snapfon has a speaker option which is invaluable for her. She turns this on when receiving a call and its really LOUD. Its a little tricky to use (by no means the intuitive user friendliness of an iPhone), but I have set up speed dial numbers and voice mail for her, and she is getting the hang of using the basic functions. Overall, a great solution in getting her connected back to the cellular world. Lastly, feels a solid phone of high quality, with clear sound.
