Excellent product, though the newer version has some good improvements!
I purchased these for my children as gifts, and they love them! They work great, erase great, and fit perfectly into the newer version's sleeve case, which is more streamlined than the original case. Comes with a little clip for the pen, so you can keep the pen with the board. Touch of the pen to the board is a very realistic pen feel. In fact, I actually prefer the pen from this board to the one of the newer version of this.
Another plus - we purchased on here because it was $10 less per board than the price for the exact same item at Hallmark, which is where I discovered these...I had never heard of them before.
Eliminates having kids go through hundreds of pages of paper (which ours do) to draw pictures. They can draw, play tic-tac-toe, etc, then erase and start over. Great for car trips and sitting in church where they have to be quiet and still. I highly recommend these and will be purchasing more as gifts in future.
These work great for kids, and I would not recommend spending the extra money for the newer model for a younger child. However, for an older child, teenager, or adult, I would. The newer one has some significant improvements, and is well worth the extra money. This one is the older model, and after the battery dies, it's useless, as there is no way to replace the battery. The new one has this issue fixed, as well as having an erase lock and a place to slide the pen into the board, so no clip is necessary. The new one also has the magnets integrated into the board, so you don't have to attach them to the back of the board like you do on this version. However, for young children, this is perfect! I'd give it five stars if it weren't for the few flaws it has (that clearly were mentioned by more than me, since the company has corrected every single one of them).

Great Learning Tool
You can't save the images with this level of Boogie Board, but as a replacement for chalk boards, wipe boards, and magna-doodles they are very useful. Boogie boards provide better resolution, less mess, and complete erasure of work.
They are frequently marketed with doodles, but they really shine when being used for school work by your children. You can write out small math problems, show your child what to do, then poof it away. Your child has to re-produce the work on their own. They are also handy to write spelling or vocabulary words on. Great for multiplication tables. Basically, a million every day homework tasks can be handled with a Boogie Board.

It's a fun little toy for our kids - but so far its more of a novelty than anything else. The oldest is only 6 years old, so maybe they'll grow into it. If your child (or you) enjoy doodling or want a high tech list/white board, this is real nice!

MY WIFE NOW HAS A VOICE
The Boogie Board is "Just what the Dr. ordered. My wife was diagnosed with A.L.S.and has lost her ability to speak. The Boogie Board is now her voice. There is now no problem with having a conversation with someone. The nurses rely on the Boogie Board to hold conversations with my wife. The great points about it are: (1) It's feather light (2) super easy to write on(3) easy to instant erase (4) you can write, draw pictures or diagrams. When the battery eventually runs out, we will purchase the Boogie Board with the replaceable battery.

Like the board
Like the board, but the magnets don't hold on to the board well and every once in a while we'll hear a clatter and the board has separated from the magnets and fallen on the kitchen floor. The last fall damaged a corner of the board permanently. Also, I wasn't crazy about the placement of the "clear" button. It seems when I hang it on my fridge the clip for the "pen" is always in the way of pressing the button. Overall I like the product and we use it regularly, but the adhesive could be stronger as well as the durability.

Handy little entertainer for a 7-year old
Love this for my son, who is just starting to spell larger words and practicing reading in "big kid" books! do NOT leave it in the car when it freezes though! we got some weird crackling on the edges that won't go away...

I use my Boogie Board to take notes that will enable me to best help my customer's needs
I use this LCD writing tablet at work. I am a phone customer service representative. My job places a high demand on me to take notes in relation to customer inquires. Here is were the Boogie Board plays and indispensable roll at my desk. No more Post It notes! I use my Boogie Board to take notes that will remind me how to best help my customer's needs.
Before I got my Boogie Board I was throwing away tons of scribbled on Post It notes. Now I scribble on my LCD writing tablet and press the erase button when I done talking to my customer.

At first I wondered--why not just use a piece of paper? But actually, these boogie boards are a lot of fun for kids in the car or on a plane. It's a high-tech Etch-a-Sketch whose batteries are estimated to last the lifetime of the device. We've owned a few; the pens used to be metal and plastic, but now are all plastic, which is a little less classy. The neoprene carrying sleeve is a must, as the screen can get scratched.

Great doodle board for kids
This is a great little board for my 3 year old. It has kept her entertained at restaurants and on flights and has got many inquiries about what it is from people who saw it. This would've been a home run if it was backlit and product of the decade if the doodles could have been saved (I believe there is a more expensive version that supports saving). For occupying a 3 year old and having fun with doodling myself, this product is hard to beat.
