Could have been old stock but it's really hard to peel the backing without ripping.
Backing does not release like it should. You'll spend a lot of time peeling ripped paper. Would not buy again.

Be warned--the "tan" refers only to the peel-off protective layer. I purchased this tape under the assumption that it would appear tan (thus blending in with tan or medium brown decking) in use. Instead--it is milky/translucent and covered with BLACK print which contrasts mightily with the milky tape body. Very misleading and disappointing. On the plus side, it is supposed to be self-healing around fasteners.

It sticks, it seals, it doesn't come up so you better get it in the right place the first time
This stuff does everything it shows in the youtube videos. It is incredibly sticky and I had to learn not to get it stuck to me instead of the project. The only real problem is that you have to be careful so it doesn't stick to it's self. If you have problems watch a couple of the instructional videos on youtube. It's reasonably tough but don't put it on a floor to seal cracks between boards until you are ready to put the top layer on as it can scuff up and get gouges in it etc. I used this to seal around the edges of a solid floor deck (over a garage space) I was redoing. The galvanized tin and tar didn't hold up as well as expected. Water got under the tin and the rest is rotten wood, or was that history?

Fantastic tape, with great stretch ability and bending for awkward angles. I used about two roll so far for various jobs and has not disappointed. I even used it to fix a crack humidifier tank, not one leak. Highly recommend.

Easy installation despite high adhesion because of smart paper backing!
super strong and flexible tape - wide enough for joint seams and to fit around corners. I used it to seal up a cold room built with foam board panels to ensure no air or moisture incursion. Seals well, flexible enough to be used on uneven surfaces and sticky enough to bond to wood and concrete as well.
I like that it peels off without a sticky side and the paper covering the adhesive is split down the middle, allowing you to set it in place and then peel the paper back to adhere. Trust me, once the sticky goes on, it's not easy to reposition because of the strong adhesive!
I only removed one star for the plastic smell. If you're using on the exterior envelope of your house or outside structure, it's five stars. In an enclosed basement it will take several days for the smell to dissipate.

Wrong product data. This stuff is just plastic.
The description on the temperature rating on this product said 240 degrees fahrenheit; the package says 120 degrees. Big difference and over priced for what it is; looks like interior use only. May be great to seal interion air leaks.

stickest tape I every used. And I have used many of the years. Use it for almost everything but flashing. Wish it came without the 3M logo all over it.

Great tape sealer. Better value than any product in a big box store.
Amazing seam tape. Sticks to pretty much anything, and requires practice to use effectively, but worth the effort.

Works great for wrapping 2 x 4's on our deck that were starting to show damage. We laid it out as we replaced decking boards. Need to cut in shorter lengths to make it easier to work with as it is very sticky.
