A disappointment after owning the original Performer. Once a great company, Weber has gone downhill.
As an owner of the prior edition of this grill, I'm disappointed with the new one. I purchased the original performer 10 years ago. It worked great but the Weber gas cylinder especially made for that grill was marked not to be refilled after 10 years. When I brought it to be refilled, I was told it couldn't be done for safety reasons. Weber stopped making/selling the cylinder, so I reluctantly purchased a new Performer. It doesn't have the same quality fit and finish as the original. My original had a couple of scratches on the finish after 10 years, the new one already has more scratches in the paint and it is only 2 months old. The table top screws and holes were also misaligned. I also find the 2 part grill (removable center section) to be a pain. The spatula gets caught when trying to turn fish and meats. Every time I use it, I wish I had my old one (which I gave away).
Update: I since learned the replacement cylinder for the old model is still available (see helpful comment below if you have the old model). Now, I really wish I hadn't given mine away. That was old Weber quality, not the inferior stuff they are selling now.

Being a long time "Weber Man" I love this grill even more
Being a long time "Weber Man" I love this grill even more. The ash can is one of those "why did it take them so long to figure that out" features that makes the traditional grill so much easier to live with. And the propane burner gets the charcoal going better than any lighter fluid or can, that's for sure. I was disappointed that there were parts missing when I opened the box on a Friday. Weber shipped the parts but not in time for Father's Day.

I bought this Weber grill for my son's birthday. He just loves it. He doesn't care for gas grills and this was the perfect gift.

Great Grill Value
It goes without saying the Weber Kettle is a great grill. Had one of these Performers years ago and traded it for a gas Weber, which I've used for years, but decided to go back to the Performer this time – no regrets. Temperature control with Performer is far better than the gas grill, in my opinion; Slow cook, Sear, Smoke, this unit does it all. And the Deluxe comes with the gas lighter feature, which is way better than using charcoal lighter. Just put your charcoal in a chimney and over the burner, and in about 5 to 8 minutes the coals are ready.
2DayDeliver service was great. The grill arrived intact with no damage to the box. Assembly was about 1 hour with simple hand tools.
Highly recommend the Weber Performer Deluxe!

Great grill for charcoal grillers.
I've always been a fan of charcoal grilling (as opposed to gas), but lighting the coals has always been a pain. Growing up, my father had a very fancy bbq/grill built-in to the deck when they remodeled, and it included a gas pipe to get the coals going. With my last grill, I'd been using a chimney starter and aiming a plumbing torch into one of the air holes. This worked, but it wasn't as easy.
I specifically asked for this model for Father's day this year because of the gas lighting system. Putting the grill together was fairly easy, if you're handy. I particularly like the system of inserts that you can swap out for the middle. I've already used the sear grate and the poultry cooker and the results both times were excellent. The gas lighting system works perfectly even with the charcoal basket things they include (those make it easy to make a roasting fire setup with a drip pan under the poultry cooker and the two baskets of charcoal on either side).
The generous table area is a definite plus - much more space than I had with our old grill.
I could go on and on with each of the features they outline in the brochure - just about all of them are helpful. If I had any criticism it would be that the knobs intended for hanging utensils don't actually fit any of the things we had to hang, and the coal bucket isn't large enough for the larger size bags of charcoal. But those are minor complaints overall.

Ex gas griller and so happy I switched!
For anyone with a gas grill unsure about switching to charcoal, this is the way to go! We have always had a gas grill and were looking to buy a new one, after doing a ton of research we didn't feel great about sticking with gas - the taste is so much less flavorful than with charcoal or wood chips. I also have two children under three and don't have time to wait for my charcoal grill to heat up. I did my homework on hybrid grills, smokers, and charcoal grills. I really like to smokers that use wood chips, but they do put you in a box in regards to what your food will taste like in the end. My research kept pointing me back to this performer delux Weber Grill. It has a propane start up that you can leave on as long as you want to get your coals hot. We usually leave the gas on for about 5 to 10 minutes to get the coals started, then turn it off and let the coals keep warming up for another 10 minutes after that. The bin underneath is great to store the coals, the timer and temp gage are helpful, and metal cart top is a perfect size for food prep. And my food tastes absolutely amazing! I've only used coals so far, but if I want to give my food a more smoky taste I can and put wood chips on top of the coals. I am so thrilled with this grill, I can't wait to use it and try to find something to grill each night! This grill has been a much easier transition from gas than I had expected, I just need to work on my charcoal grilling cooking skills now!

This was a birthday gift for my husband. He is absolutely thrilled with this as he specifically wanted a charcoal grill. We put it together ourselves, took us a couple hours and neither of us are particularly handy.

Great grill. Live the igniter feature
Great grill. Live the igniter feature. We had an old model of this grill for 20 years and only replaced it because the connector to hook up the propane wasnt certified for propane tanks today. It had a stainless steel side table and would love for Weber to have kept that feature. Otherwise we love this grill.

I can't stop grilling on this thing. Still fascinated by it.
