Fantastic invention, but overpriced, but I love 'em!!!
I love this product. I feel like a Pinterest fail because how they look on MY shoes is NOT how they look on the Hickies shoe models. But, I have shoes with tabs, not holes (see my photos). I bought them because my laces are always coming undone and tripping me at the worst times. I even broke my ankle a few months back because of that. Glad I didn't hit my head when I went down. I've tried double tying my laces, using short laces, knotting the laces...and nothing worked. I don't remember this being a big problem when I was a kid. I'm 60 now. Active, and I own more sneakers than heels. So....Here we go:
PROS: very easy to install or lace into your shoes. Took me 5 minutes and I have tabs I had to coax the Hickies through. Very sturdy and flexible, but keep sharp fingernails away from them. They look like you could pinch them in half!! lol!!
Lighter than shoelaces.
You get three options for lacing - tight, regular, medium, so if you're not happy with the tension, just change the way they're laced. The instructions tell you how.
If you like color coordinating stuff, they come in enough colors to do that. If you don't like looking like you're a 5-year old you can get plain old black. They won't make your feet look less fat, but no one will notice you don't have laces.
Good, clear, easy to follow instructions, if you don't have questions and are a visual learner. Really, you can figure this out. If you can't, then maybe someone else DOES need to be putting your shoes on for you.
Good packaging and arrived a day ahead of schedule. Under promise and overdeliver is always a good policy.
These are the kind of things design and package wise Apple might make.
There are 14 Hickies in a package - enough for most shoes and extra if something breaks.
They won't get knotted when wet. In fact, water won't affect them at all. I sail and kayak and these are perfect for slipping my shoes off and on with one hand as I usually have a paddle or something in one hand anyway. They slip on and off easily.
Your kids are going to love them. Your spouse is going to love them.
CONS: INsanely, ridiculously overpriced. I can see $10, or would snap up a dozen boxes at $8, but $14.99!? And I see that price has dropped a buck since I bought mine. I'd have rated them a 5-star except for the price.
There could be enough for two pairs of shoes, at first I thought there were. But, no such luck. You'll use 10-12 of the Hickies and then have a few spares to throw into a junk drawer where you can't find them if one breaks. I think if they'd include another four to six hickies for the price, so you get enough for two shoes with no spares, the price would be resonable. I am using one of the spares to hold my gym key to my shoe. I think as long as there is tension on it, it should be fine. You can also loosen a Hickey to thread a car key or even those key/money wallets to the shoe, so that's good, but I'm too lazy to move it up to the PROS. I'm really trying to find a CON, but I can honestly say the price is the only think I can see right now. I've slipped them off and on a couple of times, and walked around in them and they're really great. The "regular" tension is fine for me. I guess if you're a runner or you obcess about how your shoes fit you'll have to fiddle with the tension, but as one short, fat, old lady who mostly walks for exercise and spends a lot of time with her feet in the water, I love 'em.

Watch the installation videos online for instructions!
So many reviewers complain that these didn't fit right. The instructions on my box were covered with a label I couldn't get off, but I could read enough to see that they had a website, so I visited their website and watched enough of their videos to figure out (A) how to install them on my type of shoes and (B) how to install them with the proper tension so they wouldn't be too tight or too loose. The whole thing took about twenty minutes from the time I opened the 2DayDeliver package to the time I walked away with my new Hickies installed. That seems pretty good to me.
A little bit about myself: I HATE shoe laces. People think I'm funny about this, but tying shoes is one of the few things in life that I absolutely hate. If it were up to me, we would all just go barefoot and/or wear sandals in the summer and UGGs in the winter...anything to avoid having to sit down and tie shoes. Consequently I have worn many pairs of shoes in my life that were either less attractive than they should have been or less healthy for my feet, just to avoid tying stupid shoes. I know, it's a weird quirk, but that's how I am.
For Christmas my wife got me a really nice new pair of Asics. They fit great and feel great. I love them enough to wear them all the time despite the laces. But then I saw an ad for these Hickies and figured I'd give them a try (even with all the bad reviews). My shoes still fit great and now they're slip-ons. The timing has been perfect, because I recently badly injured myself and can't cross my leg to tie my shoes until I heal up. It's great to be able to just step right into my nice shoes.
(For the record, maybe I'm a nutjob and maybe I'm not. I know it's a weird quirk, but I just really don't like tying shoes and it bugs me that they come untied at the most inconvenient time in my day. I'm happier not tying my shoes.)
UPDATE (July 2016): I've been using these for over six months now and I still love them, but they don't last forever. If you have used these for a few weeks/months and decide that you like them, buy another pack and keep a few in your desk drawer at work and some at home. That way if/when one of them snaps, you'll be able to replace it with a fresh one.

Surprisingly adjustable & comfortable
I've started running and I had issues with my laces being too tight. So, I re-laced my shoes and would twist the bow and tuck it under the first laces. This worked, but sometimes the laces would come out during the run and I would have to stop and re-twist and tuck the laces. I had to do this enough times that I decided to look for an alternative.
I read the reviews, even though I was afraid that they were going to make my shoes too tight, I bought them. They come with pictures showing how to make them regular, loose, and tight. I tried the regular and it was too tight, for my liking. I tried the loose and it was still a little tight. So I modified the loose (see pictures) which fits perfectly! It's so nice to be able to slide my shoes on and have the perfect lace tension!
I have only used them on one run, thus far, and will update this review in a few months.

Too tight or too loose for Keds
Like the idea but they did not work with with Keds - way too tight on a womans size 8 worn regularly,, and the loose configuration is too loose and i didnt like the look of leaving one hole empty! Maybe they would be better for more athletic shoes, but As is there are marks on my feet from how tight it is.

Good functionality. Bad aesthetics.
I really like the fit that these give, but they are pretty ugly. I wish they'd give them a cleaner, flatter look. I'm attaching some pics. The top "lace" is a competitor brand. You can see how the Hickies pooch in some areas and crossing them doesn't work well because of the button in the middle. They are more expensive than competitors as well. None of them that I've found handle "loops" very well (as opposed to the traditional holes for the laces to go through). Seems like most athletic shoes have at least a couple of them these days. (See aqua loops in pics.)
**Update** After a while, these stretch and start popping open. I got tired of them and swapped them out for some elastic lock laces.

A pair for the whole family
I can't say enough wonderful things about these. Honestly, I ordered them because I loathe tying shoes but I love tennis shoes. I ordered the neon pink for myself, but after configuring them based on their website instructions for different fit, I ended up with enough extra to do a pair of my six and eight year old girls' shoes as well. So I ordered more. And that's when I put some on my 9 year old son's shoes. He has always had issues tying his shoes. He gets very frustrated and down on himself because he thinks he is just unable to figure it out. So we have a pair of tennis shoes with laces that he still wears a few times a week, but hickies in the other, in a combo of green and red, his favorite colors. The first thing he said to me was "now the other kids won't make fun of me when I have to keep tying my shoes." And that to me is worth just about any price. Our entire family now has at least one pair of shoes with hickies "laces" including my mom, sister, and husband (who uses them in his cross training shoes). I'm a fan and definitely recommend that if you're interested in them enough to be reading reviews, that you take the plunge and order a color to try out. Hopefully you'll be as impressed as I am.

In the advertisement there is a runner using it.. no. i used this for exactly 6 days. 3 broke while running. cheaply made faux rubber. didnt even break at where the 2 ends connect. Prior to the breakages i noticed it made the sneaker fit looser and lead to foot pain. This is a novel idea but these will not replace laces for anyone but kid

but it looks like you can read both sides so I didn't bother ...
Two things you must note: (1) there ARE different ways to install these to make them looser or tighter! (2) I was able to use 1 set for 2 sets of shoes.
The instructions as I could see only showed insert through hole on left, on to the hole on right and connect -- straight across. I didn't take the card out of the clear box to see if it opened and more instructions inside. Apparently there are, but it looks like you can read both sides so I didn't bother and chucked the box. Was going to put a review on here that they need to make graduated lengths because I couldn't use them in the top 2 holes of my sneakers (too tight, I have a high instep), then I read a review that pointed to the instructions folded out of sight in the box AND to instructions on Hickies' website. Aha!
However, by the time I'd found the instructions for a looser fit, I'd decided I actually liked using only 4 hickies per shoe on one pair of shoes and only three (left off the holes closes to toes and top two by ankle. Both pairs stay firmly on my feet, easier to take off, not too tight. Might remove one more from the first pair! The result? I got TWO pairs of shoes out of a package meant for one. So that's even better than making them fit all the holes in a looser manner.
Just thought I'd pass this along.

they worked great intially but quicky fail and roll and just tear apart. i got them for everyone in family and they didnt last my kids a week. they did last my wife and i longer but they break easily. and i was very hopeful. then i felt stupid i put these laces on everyones shoes and they all failed. seems like a cool good idea just the quality and durability isnt there, these laces need to be robust. your shoes go thru alot. but even with lite use these fail.

These are a nice idea but
These are a nice idea but... they don't come in different lengths. I need longer ones for the holes closer the leg. My 12 year old had these in for less than a week and several broke. We went thru all the extras. I'm sure its because he didn't want to take the time to undo them, but the whole reason we bought them was so he wouldn't have to tie and untie. They were a little too expensive for the amount of time they lasted.
