It melted. In my car. Into my cd stereo.
It melted. Pictures included. The rubber melted INTO MY CD PLAYER. Very disappointed in this item. This goes in a car. Who puts low melt temp rubber on a product that GOES IN A CAR.

Good products that could be great with a $1 fix.
This is a very clever idea. I drive a 2010 Toyota Prius, and the mount fit very well into my CD slot. The magnet works great. I used the case style on my personal phone, and the adhesive style on my work phone. Both phones hold to the mount well without any slipping or twisting.
The one issue everyone has with this mount, is the thumb screw that comes out the bottom. It tends to block some aspect of the dash on a lot of vehicles. You can see on the photo it blocks a small, yet annoying, portion of my LCD display. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal, but when using the car's Nav the screw does an excellent job of blocking the upcoming street names.
The solution to this problem is a $0.97 bolt from you local hardware store. I used a M5 (x20), but I believe the actual bolt size is a standard 10-32 (x.75). Just unscrew the thumb screw, and replace it will the bolt. Now I have a clear view of the screen and am very happy with this mount.

Melting in CD holder?!?
Does not hold up well to heat and CD player may be damaged due to melting. I like how it holds the phone but the melting is a cause of worry. That being said take a look at the photos see and weigh the risk for yourself at least someone told you ahead of time.

Holds the phone through bumps, easy on/off
At first I was skeptical about a magnet holding my phone, especially since my phone is a Nexus 6P with a Spigen case, so it's a bit on the bigger side. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised how well the mount works. Going over speedbumps, taking sharp turns have not been a problem. Having a magnetic mount is so convenient, too! Mounting and dismounting the phone only takes one hand and it's a breeze.
What I really like about the TechMatte MagGrip is that it doesn't need to be mounted in the middle of the CD slot, I like to mount mine a little more to the left which is nice because on the older version the phone could only be mounted in the center only. Another thing I like about the newer version is that it doesn't stand out as much as the older version, the older version just felt so bulky.
Overall, this is a great product and very stable even for bigger phones. I would definitely recommend this product.
Just for reference I am using this product in a 2014 Hyundai Accent using a Samsung Galaxy S7 phone in a Spigen Rugged Armor case.

Great, but with two minor design flaws
This securely holds my iPhone 6s to the CD mount on my car stereo. I chose the CD mount version because I don't use CDs and didn't want to block the air coming out of any of my air vents. I live in FL and nothing is more important then a vehicles air vents during the ten months of summer that FL gets. The included thumbscrew is unnecessarily long and interferes with the radio display. I used the advice of an earlier review to replace it with a much smaller thumbscrew that doesn't interfere with the display. One note is that once this has been installed in CD tray for a while, it will no longer easily come out. This is not really a unit that should be installed and removed often unless you don't mind the risk that your radio might be damaged trying to remove it. The CD insert portion almost sticks to the radio like it's been glued on. This isn't a problem for me since I don't use CDs though.
on 2015-12-23 A very portable and efficient mount at a great price!
The TechMatte CD Slot mount (Car Mount, TechMatte MagGrip CD Slot Magnetic Universal Car Mount Holder for iPhone 6S, Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge/S5, LG G4, Apple iPhone 6/5S/5C/5/4S/4, HTC One M7/M8/M9, Nexus 5X
) is a great phone holder that does the job for a very reasonable price. My wife loves this unit because she travels a lot and can easily move it between her car and rental cars without any problems. For myself, I still prefer my ProClip holder, but it cost almost 8 times as much as this one, and is not portable between cars.
- Easy and quick to install and very portable.
- Decent ability to rotate/swivel the magnet so the screen is at a good viewing angle.
- Extremely convenient to just place or remove your phone and go.
- Have to mount a permanent piece of metal to the back of your phone/case (unless you have a VERY thin case in which you may be able to get away with using the piece of metal that just sits between your phone and the case (but may scratch the back of your phone???). I don't know about this because it didn't work for me... not enough magnetism to keep my iPhone 6+ from sliding right off the magnet as soon as I tried to mount it.
- Not the most stable, my iPhone 6+ kind of bounces a little, just enough to get annoying at times.
- While the magnet rotates, there is a limit to how low you can make it go. So, depending on the angle of your CD unit and how you install the TechMatte mount it, you may or may not be happy with the angles available to you.
- You may have controls/information covered up (inaccessible) while phone is mounted.
- While it is not advertised for GPS units, it is still worth noting that if you try to mount a GPS unit to this mount, you will likely never get satellite reception due to interference from the magnet holding the device.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap and efficient way to hold their phone in their car as long as they don't mind having to stick a piece of metal to the back of their case/phone. Even though I have more cons then pros listed, this is still an excellent mount for you if some cons don't apply or you don't mind them, or if like in my wife's case, the pros (portability) greatly outweigh the cons. If I did not already have another option, I would keep this for my phone.
For now, I still have both my ProClip and this unit installed in my car. I mounted my TechMatte mount upside down so it won't interfere with my phone when it is in landscape mode in the ProClip mount. Also, installing the TechMatte mount upside down actually improves the viewing angle of devices attached to it in my car. Since I prefer my ProClip more for my phone, I decided to try putting the magnet on my GPS unit, thinking I could put my phone in the ProClip mount and my GPS on the TechMatte mount. Well, they both work great for holding my devices (See pictures), however my GPS will not get reception while mounted to the magnet (the magnet interferes with the GPS somehow), so that was a bust. I was hoping to finally get some use out of an old Garmin Nuvi GPS unit. I will probably end up giving this mount to my wife as a spare or donate it to a friend/family member.

Brilliant Little Device
I have an old 2000 Honda Accord. It's new enough to not have a cassette player, so I can't use one of those 3.5mm to cassette devices, but old enough not to have an AUX jack or bluetooth. So I have to use an FM transmitter. This is perfect for putting my phone at the ideal height to skip or rewind music and podcasts safely. It's also perfect for using GPS on my phone. The best benefit of all though is that you don't have to worry about it dropping your phone when it's either too hot or too cold like suction cup or sticky mounts. I'll definitely recommend this to anyone! Fair warning though, the magnetic sticker really does stick. I've attached it to my phone case, which I was several times a month under hot water with dish soap and it's never shown signs of peeling at the edges. So if you plan to sell your phone someday, I wouldn't put the sticker on the phone itself.

Great mount but makes me nervous about the CD player
Since I never use the CD player, this was a perfect opportunity to utilize wasted space for a great use. The magnetic connection to the phone is super easy. I bought a second one for my wife because she was so impressed with it. The mount includes two very flat metal plates (one round, one rectangular) that easily next behind a case. The phones site securely against the magnetic holder but come off easily when you want to remove it.
The mount does wobble and shake due to road vibrations and bumps which makes me want to tighten the mount inside the CD slot even more but I'm afraid of breaking the CD players. Otherwise, these are super convenient mounts. It's this one behavior and concern that keeps it from getting 5 stars. But, again, it was good enough that I bought a second one for my wife.

My GPS and compass work just fine, which was my main concern.
My GPS and compass work just fine, which was my main concern. This has not affected the way the phone works at all.
This mount works very well. The magnet is strong enough to hold on to the phone. I held the mount in my hand with the phone on it and shook it and it held the phone. No chance you phone will fall off when you're driving. I like that you can adjust the mounts swivel even with it tightened. Of course the tighter it is and the more resistant it will be but I found that it doesn't need to be tightened strongly. Just snug and your all set.
It fit into the CD slot easily and a few turns of the screw had it securely fastened. Again here there is no need to use a lot of force. Driving around, the phone is very stable and you can push the buttons on the screen without the phone falling off.
It comes with 1 round and 1 rectangular plate. The round plate has a sticker on the back that you can use if you want to stick this to the back of your phone. The plates are supposed to be installed between the phone cover and the phone so you won't need the sticker unless you don't have a phone cover. The plates are very thin so I actually mounted the plate right on op of the battery inside the phone under the battery cover. I used a tiny piece of tape to keep it on the battery so there was no chance of the plate moving around inside the phone but it not necessary.
I had been using a vent mounted design previously and this is much better and easier to use. You only need 1 hand to remove or attach your phone. The other advantage is you get your vent back. Leaving the phone on the vent with the A/C on makes the phone really cold and caused condensation when you exit the car so I always had to close one vent. I was also always concerned that the thin vent grills would eventually snap. No such problems with this CD mounted style.
I was concerned about mounting this to my CD slot but now that I have used it I realize that it will not cause any damage and it works extremely well. Absolutely a must have.

Good phone mount, provides unobstructed view of road
I ordered the CD slot magnetic holder for my iPhone 6. I don't text or take calls while driving, so this is mainly for GPS purposes. The CD in my car is positioned high on the dash so this holder places the phone within my field of vision while driving. Instructions are included, but probably not necessary. It's pretty easy to figure out. I have the Apple leather case on my phone and the magnetic strips they provided fit with no problems. The magnets are strong enough that I don't really worry about the phone falling off the mount. The only thing that I would say is a negative is that it's a bit wobbly. When going over uneven/rough road, the mount does shake. That said, outside of a window mounted holder or one of the grippy pads on top of your dash, this will be a problem for any CD/vent mounted holder. It doesn't detract from it's usefulness. Plus, it doesn't obstruct my view of the road. Is it perfect? No, but I give it a 4.7 out of 5, which I rounded up.
