4 Stars By Lorilee on 2016-06-25 Totally SOLID little chair that is build to last! I tested out two different Trekology chairs at our family's reunion camp-out a few weeks ago. Both of them were popular and exceeded my expectations. While this yellow one was many people's favorite, I personally love the red chair better. Totally personal preference though...they're both great chairs.
Here are the most important things I've noticed about this chair:
1. SUPER EASY TO SET UP - With only two parts to manage: the frame and the seat cloth, its pretty much idiot-proof. The frame parts are all connected to the stabilizing plastic housing pieces so you can't put it together wrong even if you tried. Now, that being said, the first time I tried to set it up, it was not easy. The chair cloth was too small to easily get into place and instead of wrestling with it, I kept poking around trying to "figure it out" because I assumed I was missing something. If it had come with instructions, I would have realized that I just needed to be more forceful with it from the get go. Ultimately, once I got it in place and I sat in it several times to stretch the fabric, I have never had that same issue setting up again. Its truly a cinch.
2. CONSTRUCTION - I'm a product developer by profession. I analyze garments for quality control and ensure that designs are technically sound. So when I'm looking at buying a product, you better believe I give it the eagle eye so my dollars go toward items that are built to last. Both Trekology chairs I tested are the MOST DURABLE designs I've seen on the market...and I used to work in the outdoor retail industry (REI) for 10+ years...so that's saying quite a lot. The thread is super thick and appropriate for the type of fabric they're using. The stitching is doubled up and there are bar tacks to further reinforce the seam joins at high pressure points. The attachment points for the seat cloth to chair are heavily reinforced so where this might be the weakest point of a traditional camp chair design, it most certainly isn't with their brand. I have a hard time even guessing what might be the weakest part of the chair...its just made that well.
3. SIZE - This thing is so small, I could carry it in my purse to a concert without it really impacting my ability to access my wallet. I could store it under the seat of my car and completely forget it was there until the need arose for outdoor seating, then VOILA! For situations where you're transporting a lot of people in your car so you have reduced space for bringing gear, this chair saves the day.
4. WEIGHT - At under two pounds, I really have no reason NOT to bring this chair with me to the beach, to a concert, to a friend's BBQ. I don't know if I would carry this backpacking though, but that's more of a personal preference. 2 pounds can be a lot when you're carrying everything with you on your back and I tend to opt for lightest weight possible so I can cover more ground in a day. I'd probably opt to use my inflatable thermarest chair in that situation but others might disagree and think it a worthwhile tradeoff for backpacking too.
5. FIT - I was shocked that all the big guys at our campout...the ones over 6 feet tall and well over 180-220 pounds found this little beast totally comfortable. For some reason, guys in particular liked this chair more than the women in my family but I can't say for sure why that would be so.
6. PRICE - Its a little more pricey than some of the similar looking chairs you can buy but I have a sneaking suspicion that most of the knock-offs aren't going to offer even a remote semblance to the quality I see here. I think this chair is best thought of as an investment because I think its durability will pay off 3 fold compared to other brands.
7. COLOR - While the yellow certainly is easy to find, it does get dirty much faster than the red chair. I wish it were navy or dark green instead but who cares really. Camping is for being dirty anyhow.
8. ADJUST-ABILITY - While this model has telescoping legs to alter the height and originally I thought I'd really appreciate this feature, after using the chair, I don't feel like its really necessary in most situations. We set it at the highest level and pretty much left it there. The only time I could see this being handy is if your on uneven terrain and need to adjust the chair to that oddity...which if I ever find myself in that situation, I'm probably going to move my camp spot because why deal with that??
For full disclosure, I want to share with you that I received these chairs for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I am in no way affiliated with Trekology or obligated to post video or pictures with my review, I simply choose to do so in the hopes that the information I share will be helpful to you in your buying decision.
5 Stars By B. Collins on 2017-03-06 Compfy. Sturdy. Inexpensive. Love it! I used this chair this last weekend on a desert trip. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it is, and very stable. It's a snap to put together - I actually developed a way of getting all the legs to snap in place. All the legs have elastic cords inside to help bring them into place. I grab the cross bar and just rotate I and they all snap into place without me having to even touch them! Rad! Also, having the adjustable legs is a big plus. This thing is half the price of the REI one and just as good of a build. I would recommend this chair to everyone.
5 Stars By Stuart D. Gathman on 2017-07-07 Sleek and elegant design. This beautiful gadget fits comfortably in my backpack. Setting up the chair is almost magically fast. With a little practice, you can simply rotate the central rod of the frame in your hand until all the legs and seat supports snap into place - amazing onlookers. The smooth finish on the aluminum rods gives the feel of fine craftsmanship. The rugged fabric seat fits snugly over the supports with just the right amount of tension.
Ok, the *first* time you set it up, you will spend a few minutes double checking that all the frame joints are in place. Then it will be a struggle to get the seat on the first time because the new canvas is quite stiff - and you aren't sure which way it goes (the logo goes at the top).
Putting the seat away again takes much longer. Each joint has to be individually "dislocated" and folded, and folding the fabric seat to fit in the bag is tricky. Don't be too excited to try it out - carefully note (or photograph) how the frame and seat were folded at the factory.
5 Stars By Jeep'n on 2017-04-12 Feels like legit nylon that's very thick Wow. This chair is incredible. Let me start by saying I've gone through a bunch of gear and I was immediately impressed by the quality of this item. Feels like legit nylon that's very thick, and the zipper on the bag is YKK. This means they didn't cut corners. The aluminum feels solid and is very easy to set up and take down. Quality item.
5 Stars By J. Kaspar on 2017-08-21 Great little camping chair when space is at a premium Purchased for a Kayaking trip and wanted more than my lightweight stool to sit on in camp. The ability to raise and lower the height was an attractive feature since I am 6-feet tall and 220 pounds. Worked fantastic and easy to assemble/disassemble quickly. Only issue I had was camping on sandy beach areas. The legs sink in the sand (as you would expect with nearly any brand of these chairs) and sand filled the holes in the leg extensions making it challenging to empty the sand and retract the legs again. After a bit of shaking though life was good again and the sand was relatively easily removed. For standard mud/gravel surfaces it worked fantastic thought. Its a bit heavier than I would like for backpacking but that is the price of the versatility and desire to hold a bigger frame. Very comfortable for sitting around the fire and eating even with the natural reclining design. Falling asleep in it was a bit dangerous though as I found tipping over one afternoon :)
4 Stars By tim on 2017-04-12 Happy with purchase Happy with purchase, but haven't tried in the field yet so can't give 5 starts yet but setups up nice. I bought this and a WildHorn Terralite at the same time and out the gate I like the Trekology better - cheaper and packs a wee bit more compactly, has adjustable legs, and a nicer (to me) carry bag. The Terralite has the special 'no sink' feet and maybe that will be nicer in field but I'm a bit doubtful its worth the cost difference and slight space/weight difference. If I was to do it again right now I think I'd just get two of the Trekology chairs instead.
5 Stars By Tara B. on 2016-05-22 Sturdy enough to hold my 6'2" 235# husband. Small enough to store under the seat in my car! LOVE IT!!! What a surprise this little chair is!
I opened the box to find a small green bag...no bigger than a shoe bag. I picked the bag up by the handle and realized that it is also extremely light...only about 2 pounds. Inside the bag is lightweight aluminum frame held closed by a connected velcro strap. Undo the velcro strap and you find that the lightweight aluminum franme is joined together by a unique hinge design with interior cables that enables a quick and easy set up. It really is just as easy as 1) unstrap the velcro; 2) pop open the aluminum frame; and 3) attach the seat cloth---then you are ready to go!
The chair is surprisingly sturdy despite the lightweight frame and folding design. And even without arms or a high back, I found the chair to be a very comfortable seat throughout my son's entire soccer game.
My husband--6'2" and 235 pounds--was incredibly skeptical of the chair and really did not trust it to sit in it....but he finally trusted me and gave it a try. The chair was sturdy and showed no signs of strain. The fabric held in place without any stretching or fraying. He was pleasantly surprised!
My kids are always playing sports and we always have sports equipment in the car. I have to choose between either 1) cluttering my car with a large chair all of the time or 2) risk not having a place to sit and last week found myself without a chair because I had cleaned out my trunk. This chair is the perfect solution fitting easily into the under floor storage space in my car. That's how incredibly small it is! If you don't have in-floor storage, you could simply tuck it up under the seat...seriously (see photo)! It's only 14" x 4-1/4" x 6".
Maybe you are in the market for a compact chair because you are tired of struggling to carry the heavier ones around. Maybe you need something that is easier to store. Whatever the reason, this chair is the chair for you. And with so many reasons, it is the perfect chair for any occasion--perfect for sporting events, hikes, camping trips, fishing trips, etc. __________

5 Stars By Thomas Durst on 2017-05-13 FANTASTIC PRODUCT! I’ve practiced meditation for many years now and found the chair is PERFECT for that purpose so I’ll use it year around inside as well as outdoors. The comfort is totally amazing—far beyond what I expected. I've sent emails to the creator of the product I find it wonderful that a live human being would actually respond to an email. In this day when everything is done digitally that is a breath of fresh air. I would highly recommend this chair.
4 Stars By Wilson K. on 2017-08-19 Compact and Sturdy Camping Chairs I recently went camping with my family + another family and purchased these chairs for our trip. When the chairs arrived, I was very happy to see how compact this chair was. I set one up in my living room to make sure there wouldn't be any surprises. It took less than 30 seconds to setup the framing and the seat. The framing wanted to put itself together due to the elastic cord and all I did was to make sure each joint was securely in place. The seat itself was quite easy to put together... it just took me a couple of seconds to find and orientate the chair "label" to know which way was up. Disassembly was just as easy, but I found out that there's a slight trick to packing the framing up and securing it with the Velcro strap. With all the aluminum tubes separated, align them so that they are parallel with each other. Twist one end of the chair clockwise by about 20 degrees so that the tubes are still parallel with one another, but just not parallel with the center tube. You can now secure the framing with the strap without any issues. One suggestion to the manufacturer would be to increase the length of the Velcro strap so that a person could secure it without having to deal with alignment issues.
These chairs are very sturdy considering their size. I'm 5' 9" and 200+ lbs and I was able to sit in these chairs without the tubes snapping or the seat ripping. My main issue, which is the reason I deducted a star, is that although I could sit up comfortably in this chair, I could not lean back comfortably in this chair without feeling like I was going to fall over because my shoulders were not supported. This chair may not be right for me personally and I will be looking for a chair with more back support. These chair are perfect for the rest of my family though. My wife, who is 5' 2", would be able to lean back and her shoulders were supported. As expected, my children who are all less than 10 yrs old fit these chairs perfectly.
The children spilled various drinks on different occasions ranging from water to juice to hot cocoa. I took off the seat and rinsed it with water and let it dry. It dried fairly quickly and didn't stain at all.
This is a compact and sturdy chair for camping, but take into account the amount of back support you'll need when considering this chair.
4 Stars By Candice Walker on 2017-08-16 Top of the Line for the Price First of all, I love the carrying case for this chair, I'm not sure why, I just think its cool. The material is awesome and easy to clean. The set is painless, all of the legs and pieces are connected with bungie cord type things inside so they just basically put themself together which is amazing when you are tired after hiking or setting up camp. The height is adjustable, so you can choose to be low to the ground or not. I looked at similar chairs to this one at REI that went for 100-150 dollars so its a great deal. My only complaint is that the back of the chair could be a bit wider. For someone with broad shoulders like me the corners dig in just a little bit. Overall great chair design and very comfortable. And I don't feel like Im about to tip over even though it weighs practically nothing!
5 Stars By Bryan J. Ischo on 2017-08-15 Best one I've tried I bought three different styles of camping chair before my long camping trip and this one was by far my favorite. The legs are thicker and sturdier than most similar chairs, and the adjustable height feature is very nice. The chair packs down smaller than most similar chairs, and includes a velcro strap that helps hold it together when packed up which makes getting it into the bag a bit easier. The fabric is sturdy and the chair can be put together just as quickly as all chairs of this type, which si to say, pretty quickly, and taken down even more quickly. Definitely my favorite portable camping chair.
5 Stars By Mr. Blue on 2017-08-24 Well worth it! I love these chairs. I bought two and they are very light and compact, making them easy to carry. I carried two in one hand along a trail to a birding spot and they felt like they weighed less than my spotting scope.
I also took them camping and they were comfortable to sit in for 4 days. They are much more comfortable than those larger folding chairs in a bag.
I bought these after seeing a friend's rei chairs that were a similar design but $80. The differences (besides the cost) are that the base bar runs a different direction, making the rei chair tippy side to side, this chair folds down more compactly, the legs on this one adjust, and the fabric on this chair seems more sturdy. I prefer this chair over the more expensive one for all these reasons.
5 Stars By 4-eh? on 2017-02-23 Best camp chair ever! Great item great price! This is a great product if you love to backpack/hike. Very well constructed and durable chair, very easy to assemble. Suggest putting it together once before hitting the trail as it's kinda tight to stretch first time. After that it's really easy. Dries quick in a tent even if pouring down rain outside. Useful for meals as I usually sat crosslegged on ground to eat and now I sit upright. Perfect balance. I'm 6'2" tall. When I lean against the back of the chair and stretch out my legs, chair does not wobble or tilt or bend. It provides great back support after a day under a 40 lb backpack and relaxes me to sleep. Caution, I did fall sideways out of the chair after falling into an exhausted sleep. My own fault - I slumped to one side and just rolled onto the ground. This is a super great product and gets 5 stars easily!
5 Stars By 2DayDeliver Customer on 2017-03-31 This chair is not only equivalent to the one they sell at REI but in my opinion better. I weigh about 210 pounds and when I ... YES YES YES! This chair is not only equivalent to the one they sell at REI but in my opinion better. I weigh about 210 pounds and when I sat in the one from REI I felt like it was going to break but when I sit in my Treknology chair I feel supported. Same size and weight as the one from REI as well but with a way better price tag. This chair is great for both camping and backpacking. It's super easy to set up and take down.
5 Stars By Gregory Seibert on 2017-02-07 Incredibly comfortable!!! I am 5'11" with lower back problems and I am always concerned with camping chairs as they keep me too upright and in pain within minutes of sitting in them. This is not the case with this chair!!! I can sit in this chair all day and night. In fact I even sit in it around my house. The chair has you leaning back slightly which makes for a very comfortable sit. Friends and family were also impressed that they too went out and bought this exact chair. The chair is put together well and we've had no problems with the fabric tearing as previous reviews have mentioned. And of course, a very important feature Is that it is light and packs small.
5 Stars By DaveInIowa on 2017-06-21 Nice Chairs (I bought two). Nice Chairs (I bought two). Assembly is easy. I wouldn't sit in one for hours and hours without a head rest of some kind, but a quick chair for short term they are great. I bought them for when on location drone flying. I also bought the aluminum top table. While minor(?) I like the fact the chair bags are much larger than needed. Makes it easy to repack and there is some room for some else to be packed away.
5 Stars By Josh on 2017-07-05 This chair is fantastic. You can have this thing set up in ... This chair is fantastic. You can have this thing set up in under 30 seconds and it's lightweight enough that weight-conscious hikers would have a hard time leaving it behind. I've only taken it out once so far on a three day hike, but I weigh 220 lbs and I gave it an absolute beating and it took it like a champ. Everyone else on the hike was taking turns sitting in it when I wasn't using it, and I know at least two of them have bought one for themselves one since then.
4 Stars By SP Chicago on 2017-06-17 Great for outdoor concerts without having to lug heavy chairs ... Great for outdoor concerts without having to lug heavy chairs and hit people with them while walking. We can fit 2 of these in to a backpack, with water, sunscreen, snacks. A little bit shaky, and I did fall over when someone ran into me. We have a yellow and a red, and the red is MUCH easier to put together. We also had them set up a few days before traveling, so they could stretch out a bit.
5 Stars By Just Brian on 2017-06-28 Great purchase This is exactly what I needed to store away on my motorcycle for those times when sitting on the ground is not comfortable. It seems to be well made, simple to put together and take down. It is comfortable. My wife said she wanted one of her own for the reason I stated as she travels with me on the motorcycle. The price is cheaper than other similar chairs. The only concern is the feet will probably sink into soft ground. So far I'm very pleased with this purchase.
5 Stars By Josh on 2017-04-04 Recommend I give it 5 stars. Product is high quality. Customer support is second to none. I got an email directly from the owner asking me if everything was satisfactory. That is a rare thing in this day and age.
