"Microwave Safe Only if You Heat it in 30 Second Intervals" by Rubbermaid Customer Service
I did not press the lid but the lid cracked in the middle after I took it out of microwave. I called the customer service, and they said "that's because you improperly used it in a microwave. We recommend heating food in 30 second intervals. We do not recommend heating for 2 minutes continuously!" ...did I hear it right? I said "then it is practically NOT microwave safe. Who would heat up in 30 sec intervals?" "It is microwave safe!" They are going to replace the lid after all, but I was surprised how they could claim these containers are microwave safe. By the way, when I told my name to the customer service, she said "oh god, you need to spell that!!" in a very rude way. I did not give myself a Japanese name. The lid replacement was not a worth the terrible experience with Rubbermaid customer service.

Clear, Non staining (so far) Easy, GREAT!
I have tried so many food storage containers in my lifetime it isn't even funny. I found I liked the clip lid kind (used a different brand) but I did not like that the were not really clear. I decided to give these a try. I really really like these. They are clear and the snap lids are perfect. You can just lift up the clips and leave the lid on to cook in the microwave. Under the clips there are air holes and this is why you can cook with the lid on. This stops splattering in the microwave so I don't have to change containers or put a paper towel over it etc. In fact when we re heated some chicken wings they were re steamed so to speak and came out moist, nicely heated. We tried the spaghetti sauce storage and found no staining. I was hoping to nesting since some folks had said they did nest. Well, not really. You have to nest the containers and keep the lid separately which is not really nesting. BUT, they set nicely on top of the bigger piece (with their lids on) and makes a neat stack and I can just get the size I need so I am ok with that. They clean up easily (have not tried in the dishwasher yet though) and make my food easily viewable in the fridge. I am going to get some additional sizes. Very pleased all around. Not unhappy about the nesting as I thought I would be. With the nesting you have to take all out to get to the smaller middle one etc. which I was doing with the previous kinds and when I got these I realized I was frustrate with having to un nest all the time. Because they stack nicely, they wash great, so far no stains I am really pleased. When you go to take the lid off it is a bit "tight' but there is a lip on their that allows you to pull and release the suction. Not hard at all but really just reassures me there is a good seal to keep the food fresher.
Addition 12/8/16: So far we still really like these products. Wish they came in a few additional sizes though. We like the easy open (yep you unlock the side clips and push down slightly on the lip to separate. You will hear a "woosh" which to mean means these things seal really really well. The other clip lock types from other brands we have used did not have that. Love the fact we can lift up the clips and put food into the microwave still in the container with the lid on (gotta lift up the clips though so the air holes are exposed). I would say it almost steams the food because of the lids still on and makes stored food moist and fresher. They still wash well, don't stay so far. And as I said they do not "nest" BUT I really don't miss having to undo 4 or 5 containers to get to the little one in the center. Nesting is great for saving space but got really annoying so I would just put them in helter skelter because I did not always want to make time to "re nest" them. So these stack block like on top of each other depending on the sizes and I am fine with that. Really nice food storage containers, just want a few more sizes.

A ziplock bag is more leakproof
If you fish artificial baits, than you know it's like handling a skunk. I thought this product was the solution when I was looking for a small container that was both leakproof and easy to open/close with one hand.
Tested it first by laying it on its side with water in it for a couple of days. NO leaks. My hopes were high.
Well, that was as good as it got. Tried it next with Berkeley Gulp and double bagged it just in case. Tossed it in my tackle bag upright and drove to the local fishing spot. When I went to take it out and it had already leaked. There was no hard handling or anything. It was only a 10 min car ride.
Since it leaked with such minor handling, not sure if the seal is really as good as it claims. Since the seal is along the internal sides, unlike similar products where it is a rubber seal pushed down along the edges, I have a feeling that it could be suspect to things getting caught in the seal more easily. You can wipe down the edges but it is harder to wipe down the internal walls. Maybe it was the oils in the fish attractant? But I wouldn't say it was something unusual or difficult to handle.

No Leaks - Easy to Open/Close - BPA Free
I ordered this Rubbermaid storage container set on a whim when I saw them come up on sale on 2DayDeliver. I liked that they were inexpensive, made of hard clear plastic (less staining), had latches to hold the lids secure, and were BPA free.
When I read up on them I saw they were advertised as leak-free and had built-in vents that allow you to reheat your food in the microwave with the lids on, which is a nice bonus I hadn't counted on.
There were no surprises when they arrived and these food storage containers appeared to have the standard Rubbermaid quality. I also immediately noticed how easily the lids locked and unlocked. The lids also protrude past the corners of the container which makes it easier to pry the lid off. (see pic) The lids also have a nice flexible rubber seal that form a nice tight seal when the lid is in place and snapped shut.
I also found there were two small vent holes (one each side - see pic) located in the lid just under the latches that are used for venting. When the lid latches are open the holes in the container have been cleared allowing for venting when reheating items in a microwave. When the latches are snapped shut the latch seals the hole to preventing leaking.
Some reviewers said that there containers leaked which peaked my curiosity, I figured they must be leaking thru the vent hole in the lids. So I filled each container half full of water, flipped them upside down so they were resting on the lids, and left them on the kitchen counter for over 8 hours. I also shook them every once in a while when I passed thru the kitchen and I put one of the water filled containers in the refrigerator upside down to see if cold had any affect. (see pics)
To my surprise not a single drop of water leaked from any of the containers. Not even the container that I had refrigerated and later let warm up on the counter. I don't want to discount the reviewers who had leak issues, but mine do not leak one bit. I also don’t plan on storing them upside down so I am pretty sure leaking want be an issue with me.
I also saw where some reviewers experienced issues relating to microwave use and were upset that they were told to reheat in 30-seconds intervals. Well you have to be careful when reheating items in a microwave, especially when using plastic dishes.
These containers have a "7†“Other" stamped on the bottom which means they may be made from various plastics, possibly polycarbonate or a mix of plastics. So the exact temperature needed to reach the melting point of these containers is unclear, but I can tell you from experience that a microwave is more than capable of melting most any type of plastic you can throw at it. Your safest bet is to heat or reheat items slowly and at less than full power when using these or any other non-glass containers in a microwave.
Finally the only minor negative I can think of on these storage containers is with the latches and flexible lid gasket hand cleaning and drying these containers will take a minute longer than usual. This is not a big deal to me so overall I am very happy with this purchase.
If you have a question feel free to ask me and I'll answer with what I can as quickly as I can. And as with all my reviews if I experience any issues or problems I’ll update this review.
I hope you found this information helpful. If so please click the "yes" button below. Thanks!

More Dangerous than Innovative
As an avid home cook, I use a lot of storage containers and was first very impressed with the Rubbermaid Brilliance line. Particularly the largest size, which allows you to store an entire chicken if you cut out the backbone and press it flat. I could then add marinade over the chicken and pop it in the fridge without worrying about it leaking. Bonus: it was nice and compact, so I didn't have to rearrange the entire refrigerator just to find a place for it.
Unfortunately, after only a few trips through the top rack of the dishwasher (the packaging says they are dishwashable), the little holes beneath the two snap-down handles began to leak. Rubbermaid says they are 100% leakproof, but they're not. Still, I was okay with that - you could avoid leaking if you handled them gently.
Here's what I'm not okay with: last night, as I was gently pressing down on the top lid to get a little of the air out, my thumb *broke through the top of the lid* - resulting in a jagged, hard plastic crack that tore into my thumb (see attached pic). These containers aren't innovative, they're dangerous. I've never been so badly cut by a consumer product that wasn't a knife! Shame on Rubbermaid for producing a not-inexpensive product that obviously went through very little use testing before putting it out to an unsuspecting public. AVOID.

UPDATED: 12/29/16 Lids keep cracking and warping
The rubber seal has now broken off due to the lid cracking near it.. Now it's completely unusable.I'm sad because I really liked how it was completely clear and the locking mechanism. Rubbermaid needs to back to the drawing board and fix this.
The lids keep warping and cracking along the rubber seal. I ended up returning one but the others keep doing the same thing. I started to leave the lid ajar while microwaving thinking this would mitigate the problem but I the lids continue to crack and warp. I thought I had found a good solution for my meal prep but I may have to go with a different system now.
I've been using the 5 cup Premiers for my lunches but they are a bit too big and the 3 cup Premiers were too shallow. Rubbermaid finally made the right sized food container for me. The fact that they lock is just a bonus.
I did look at the glass stuff that snapware has but glass is too heavy for me to bring to the office. I also feel that the wings on snapware will eventually break off due to wear and tear while the rubbermaid ones use hinges and will probably last longer.
The only thing I do not like is that they do not nest very well. The containers nest well but the lids (due to the hinges) do not nest well. This is surprising considering that everything else rubbermaid makes nests very well.

does what i need.
bought 3 of the 9.6 cup size to put exactly 8 cups of Only Natural Pet's dehydrated raw dog food bags in each of them. Thought this would leave me with almost 2 cups worth of extra room but, i was wrong for the black seal that is all around lid, takes that room up so technically these are 8cp containers to me.
wish they had slightly larger ones too for i would buy them now since these are actually great container that are everything they say (airtight/etc) except for the actual cup size that is limited due to seal and the 'crystal clear' part, nothing crystal clear with the loads of scuffing whitish marks all over the lid tops that oddly are not protected and therefore get ruined at warehouse/etc. before you even get them! for what i am using them for, its no big deal but, had i bought these for 'my' personal use, i would of returned at least 2 of them that were pretty scuffed up!!
latches were not that hard to open to me but, the part on container that it latches to sure did hurt my fingers! hold latches on edge and open slowly 'towards you" to avoid getting fingers hurt by that part!

Absolutely love these! Bought a small set at the local wallyworld to store all my dried beans in and found I needed more. Too many beans. Oh wait, that can't be right. You can never have too many beans. Anyway. The lids are so cool! They snap on a bit like that home party plastic ware we all used to buy. They are clear as a sunny day so you can SEE what's in there and they stack! I know you can cook with them in the microwave but I don't use any kind of plastic that way. Besides I only wanted them for storage. I need a few more ...
