5 Stars By Admiralsolo on 2016-07-09 Luminoodle gets the job done right. July 9, 2016 I have been using the product now for just over a week and I am really pleased with the performance of the Luminoodle light. I have attached a short 4 minute video that I hope demonstrates the how well the product functions. Watch the price as it seems to jump around. I picked this this product up on 6/27 for $14.99 and as of today, 7/9 it is selling for $19.99. But then a lot of 2DayDeliver items tend to do that.
Pros: Inexpensive bright easy to attach
Cons: actual length may not cover a 60" tv maybe too bright

5 Stars By Ben on 2016-07-14 Common Problems Diagnosed and Solved! First off let me address some of the issues other people have been having. When people are saying they are upset that it won't fit all the way around their huge TVs, that's because you are making the square to big... If you want the lights to be across the top, bottom, and both sides then you won't want to put the lights all the way to the edge of the TV, you will need to bring them closer to the center of the TV. Personally I kept the light about 4 inches from the edge of the TV and was able to cover both sides and across the top completely. This is working just fine for me with no dark spots around the TV whatsoever. Another problem people are having is the strand not sticking to the TV. One of two things is happening: 1. they are trying to stick it onto a dust covered TV or 2. they did what I did and peeled off both the backing and the sticky strip. I went to peel off the backing for the sticky material and realized it wasn't sticking to my TV but the backing was catching the hairs on my arms and pulling it. I looked closer and the sticky material was pulling off of the light strand just as easily as I would imagine the backing should come off the sticky material. I placed the sticky material back onto the light strand and pulled off just the backing this time. It was so sticky that if you placed it in the wrong spot you would have to try pretty hard to pull it back off just to move it.
I have attached pictures below for reference. This is a 55in TV and it has no problem lighting up the wall behind it. In all honesty, these pictures don't do the brightness justice as you can see in the 3rd picture compared to the last two (I have the same lights on in all 3 of those pictures but the 3rd and 4th picture make things really dark due to the camera focusing on the bright TV. The reason you don't really see the white light coming from the sides of the TV is due to the fact that I have my TV positioned in the corner and both sides almost touch the wall. The lights turn on and off with my TV as described they would. They leave a nice white glow on the wall behind it. I love watching TV in the dark but my fiance hates it, at least used to. Now she loves watching TV in the dark. I couldn't be happier with this product. I am actually ordering another couple of strands for my other TVs!
5 Stars By T. Carolan on 2016-09-30 Backlit mirror So far i love this. It was super easy to install, i could cut it to length and now i have the backlit mirror i always wanted.
5 Stars By Deann on 2016-06-01 Simple, and it works! That was easy to install! This light strip works exactly as I hoped it would, it powers on and off with the TV, and provides just the right amount of glow. I didn't want buttons or anything that needed adjusting, so this one was a perfect choice for us. It just works! Glad to add this product to our Luminoodle collection.
5 Stars By Shaun on 2016-07-07 insanely easy install. lights provide ample lighting insanely easy install. lights provide ample lighting; usb allows lights to be a stand alone fixture without tying up another wall socket. USB interfface also acts to turn lights on and off with the TV. Back lighting also seems to make the screen seem more sharp. Another bonus is when trying to plug in or remove additional fixtures (sound bars, video game systems, Blu-ray, rtc.) is that the strip allows you to see labels and hook-ups without having to move the TV. ONE DRAWBACK: I have a 55in Samsung and the strip I ordered covers the top horizontal edge completely and the vertical edges approximately halfway down; because of this, I'd recommend buying one size up from the suggested size on 2DayDeliver/internet.
4 Stars By R. Wagner on 2017-05-21 Overall works great but the type-A USB connector is flaky. Consider an "all the way around" installation. The instructions show three installation options based on the length of the product and the television size. Another reviewer has a great idea. Instead of going along the edge to cover the top and sides, cover all four sides with a smaller rectangle. I tried both and the full rectangllooks much better. I had to run it under my wall mount bracket. Thankfully it is the kind that has thick plastic bushing/washers that create a gap between the bracket and the back of the television.
Use masking tape or cellophane tape to mock it up before exposing the adhesive. It ended up being 4-6" away from the edge all the way around.
The USB connector on the light strip does not work well with the USB ports on my television - an LG OLED 55". It is a "double sided" connector that should work in either direction. Flipping it over achieved the same result. This connector only works when partially inserted into the USB port on the back. The side port works better - still has issues - but that's my accessible port. USB ports have been around for a very long time. I can't remember the last time I ran into a flaky type-A connector! Maybe I need a short USB extender cord even though the original connector can reach the port.
5 Stars By Dan Thale on 2016-10-13 Great affordable bias lighting kit for my 55" TV Great little kit for easily adding a bias light to a flat panel tv. Three things that I discovered that might be useful to other buyers: 1. The USB ports on my Sony x850c are apparently always powered. Meaning that if you use your TV's USB ports, the lights will be on wether the TV is on or off. I solved this by plugging the lights into my stereo receiver's USB port which powers down when turned off. Just something to look out for. 2. These lights work on standard 5v provided by any USB port. However I found that they were too bright for my tastes. So used a 5v to 3.3v step-down converter that I bought here on 2DayDeliver to dim the LEDs. Now they give a less obvious, subtle glow that still gives the appropriate affect without being too bright. If you have basic soldering skills its a pretty easy and non permanent modification but will probably void any warranty. Again, good to know they work on 3.3v 3. Using the medium length strip, I was able to adequately cover the three main sides of my 55" TV. I started the first led about a third of the way up on one side, and about two inches inside the outter edge. The length was perfect to reach the same distance down the opposite side.
4 Stars By Christopher B Harmon on 2017-05-26 Good, but bright. I like the simplicity of this, but it is much brighter than I expected. I got the medium size for my 50" bedroom TV, and in my nerdish excitement I attached it to the back of the TV in the middle of the day after receiving it, in retrospect I should have tested the brightness after the sun set to determine how much I should use, instead of doing the whole top and both sides as depicted in the listing photos. I have a large master bedroom, and even then it feels like a lamp is on, not just some background lighting as I expected. I may try to remove some of it, but as it's been stuck on the back of my TV for a few days I don't know how easily it'll come off. I should have just done one strip across the top. Secondly, I wish the lead between the USB connection and the first LED were longer. It was a stretch even from the bottom-most USB port on my TV to try and get the strip to start in the bottom corner.
Overall, it's a good product, esp. for the price. I have already noticed my eyes feeling less strained from bed-time TV (that I know I shouldn't be watching anyway, but we all have our vices...).
4 Stars By RickyT on 2017-06-16 Really nice, but it has minor flaws There is a lot to like, but due to some minor flaws it isn't perfect. First, the flaws. The USB connector cable is too short. I have a LG 65" C7 and the USB cable (non-light portion) gets in the way of the TV's power button. On the C7, the lower part of the screen is where the electronics are housed and I had to begin attaching the lights at the edge of the screen. I had to finesse the layout to avoid the power button and still begin attaching the lights at the edge of the screen. Second, this needs a switch to control power. I will buy a switch, but this feature should be included even if it increases the cost.
Whoops, I almost forget about the positives. Yes, you can see the difference when watching TV in a dark room. The lights look well made and the adhesive looks high quality. However, be careful when removing the paper backing. I pulled a little too hard and pulled and stretched a portion of the adhesive. Begin removing the paper backing very slowly and you'll be fine. Once attaching the lights, you'll notice how sticky the adhesive is. It looks like it will stay on for a long time.
4 Stars By SMR on 2016-09-27 Good Product, Good Design I don't have a home theater room or anything but after reading others reviews I thought if it could improve the picture quality then it was worth a shot. I looked at various brands and makers that offered various configurations. I chose the Luminoodle because it was the most straightforward setup. It doesn't come with a remote or ability to change color as other sellers do. I decided that simple was better.
The installation was easy, I found a video online so that I'd know what to expect. Even after watching the video and being aware of potential pitfalls, I still managed to peel the adhesive away from from the light kit. It went back easily enough and was still sticky so I could attach it to the back of the TV. I have a 50" screen and this was just enough to go around 3 sides (like they show in the picture). So if you have a larger TV then the light strip wont fully cover both sides. Other reviewers have complained that the adhesive wasn't durable and would peel away from the TV. That has not been my experience. It sticks well, even when you double it over to make the 90 degree turns.
I'm not sure that the light strip makes a difference in color perception, but it does make it easier to watch by reducing eye strain. I noticed that I feel more comfortable or relaxed while watching nighttime tv.
What I don't like... This may just apply to my circumstance, so bear that in mind. My TV is set against a wall that is right next to a hallway. Everytime I pass the TV on my way to or from the bedrooms, I get a shock of light. It's not a deal breaker and I imagine I'll get accustomed to it. If I could put the TV elsewhere I wouldn't even mention it.
If I decide to buy another of these I would be more inclined to get a unit that offers the ability to adjust the brightness and different colors for mood lighting.
Bottom line - the Luminoodle is well designed, uses quality adhesive, provides bright light, makes watching tv more comfortable (for me anyway). Its a good product and reasonably priced. I would recommend to anyone looking to add bias lighting to their home theatre. It would also be an inexpensive method to provide under cabinet lighting and I may consider that at some point in the future.
